Tein SS-P Wear Question

Tein SS-P Wear Question
Hi everyone
I'm a bit new when it comes to knowing all about suspension. A friend is looking to sell me his Tein SS-P (Pillow mount) coilover system.
Theres about 7-8k miles on it and his car is slammed pretty low.
He claimed it should still be in good condition regardless of how low he dropped it, there doesn't seem to be any leaks from the struts.
Should I buy this system from him? Could the system be messed up being slammed so low for so long? I was only going to lower mine 1-1.25'' from stock height and was hoping for near stock ride quality.
thanks for any input.

How much is he selling them for? Sounds like you may not want to go that deep into the suspension but if it is a really good deal, you may get alot of bang for your buck

First- the Minimum drop on Teins is usually 1.5 inches. Check their website spec sheet for exact measure and range of adjustment on your car.
Next- if he had them in the allowable range- full low would be slightly above leaving scrapes everywhere---the shocks will be fine. If they have a leak or problem- Tein rebuilds them for 100-150 each. Be aware that Pillowtop mounts are not soft and pillowlike. They will give increased road and steering feedback- thats great as long as you want that.

Then I may want the regular SS system. I recently took the first long trip to Napa Valley with the new car and lets say I felt alot of the bumps on the road. Maybe I should be better off in a regular system if I want the desired ride comfort level.
thanks for your

I have a 2001 TL, Tein SS with new acura tophats- the normal rubber ones. Could have used to old ones, but wanted to keep the stock shocks assembled as units.
With 16 settings on dampening/rebound with 16 as full stiff for this discussion:
Many run 8 front 8 rear on the street.
I run 4 to 6 front 8 rear and that keeps the wife happy with close to OE ride with great handling. Soon the EDFC will be installed and in town will be 4 front 6 rear for soft ride, the other settings will be stiffer for freeway and backroads fun.
MrHeelToe and Excelerate are both authorized Tein dealers and can hook you up
