Tein Basis vs. Tein Street Advance
Is the street advance worth spending more over the street basis? I just want a lowered stance with a smooth ride, as my TL is my DD. Not sure which ones I should get.

I daily drive my TL and I decided to go with the basics. The ride is really comfortable. Even when the coils are maxed out on the lowest setting. IMO the basics are more than comfortable enough for daily driving and perform very well for spirited driving.

Im in the same boat as you, have a DD TL and cant decide if its worth the extra money for the SA. I know once I set the dampening on the SAs I will leave it and never change it, so if the basis's come with a comfortable but firmer than stock ride I may go with those

the biggest thing here is the flexibility. i spent 2 weeks changing my dampening settings on my SS until I got the feeling that was just right for me. everyone has different preferences and to me i would rather spend a little bit more money and get a suspension feeling/setup that is exactly what i want (SS/SA), rather than going with whatever is given to me out of the box (basics). just my
my TL is also my DD
my TL is also my DD

I keep asking this question and no one seems to know the answer... What damping settings F/R are the Street Advance equivalent to on the Street Basis? Everyone seems to just tell me they are in the middle.
Out of the box, the SB feels the same as SA when damping set at (X) F/R... That's what I want to know. I know if I got adj damping, I would set it once and probably never touch it again.

Also look at the pricing. It's less than $200 in difference. Many customers have bought the SB and later wanted to upgrade to the SA when the $200 could have been spent in the beginning.
TEIN Street Basis - $671:

TEIN Street Advance - $864

Now the Street Basis are perfect for those who have daily drivers who don't want to touch damping at all and just want something sporty. But if you are particular spend the $200 and get the SA.

I was in the same situation. I DD my TL and wanted to go lower but didn't want the suspension too stiff or harsh. I couldn't decide which Tein coilovers to get and tried to find all the info / feedback I could on them which was difficult because I'd read one post where somebody thought the basis was comfortable and like stock and then read somebody else that said it was way too harsh and passengers complained. I even read one where the guy said it wasn't stiff enough yet after he got out of the car after a long commutes his back hurt WTF!
So what I realized was that one person's idea of stiff / soft suspension is different than somebody else's, sorta like music, I might say it's too loud and you might think its not loud enough! I ultimately just decided to go with the Street Advance for the adjust-ability factor. In fact I just got an email from UPS saying they were delivered. They're going on my car this weekend. Sorry if you read all of this expecting a definitive comparison / review.

I heard back from Tein, I didn't get the answer I was looking for.
I'm interested in buying the Street Basis coilovers for my 2004 Acura TL. What damping settings F/R are the Street Advance equivalent to on the Street Basis? In other words... Out of the box, the Street Basis feels the same as Street Advance when damping set at (X) F/R. All the vendors tell me they are somewhere in the middle, but I'm looking for more specific settings.
Thank you for inquiry. Please take note that the damping force on our
"Street Advance" coilover is system is about 200% more noticeable then that
of the "Super Street". Unfortunately there is no particular damping force
setting to achieve the ride feel as if you had our "Super Street" coilover
kit mounted. We do apologize for the inconvenience. We recommended you
adjust the damping force settings to achieve your ideal ride feel. As a
reminder counter clockwise until stopped "0" would be the stiffest setting.
Counter clockwise "16" clicks would be the softest setting.
Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

I truly think that going with the Street Advances is the best route. fully adjustable height and dampening for comfort and wont have to buy another set if you were to happen to buy the basis and not like them. At least this is enough info for me to decide.
