Suspension worn out.

I have been noticing that my wife's TL with 90k miles on it has been riding hard. The suspension crashes with the slightest bump on the road. The softer "plunk" when it was new has given way to jarring feedback. I am assuming that the spring and dampers have worn out and I am in for replacement. I am going to order the front and rear shock assembly and swap it out. Since I am tearing in to it I wanted to know what else I need to change to get back the supple ride that it had when new. I already changed one control arm . I will appreciate information for changing any bushings that would further improve ride.

Yeah I have 103K on my original suspension. And I use it a lot on turns. I was thinking of getting A-Spec to replace my stock one when it gets to be the due point.

People with info: How well is the A-Spec? Is it made well and how different is it from stock? Besides the 1inch lower. Thanks! I want to handle much better, though not going too low. After all I live in the country.

I am primarily looking for a stock ride. But I know where you are coming from. If this were my car I may have considered A-spec but I already have a Type-S and I am very happy with that setup. If you just want better handling and are okay with how the car sits you may want to look into the Type-S suspension too. It is much tighter than the base but more supple than the A-spec. A-spec was a little on the harsher side for me. So it depends on what you want. Also if going the Type-S route I would upgrade the sway bars as well. That will be a nice perceptible upgrade. If you really wanna go the whole nine yards get the steering rack and the PS pump off of a Type -S. Trust me the steering feel for the two cars is poles apart.

Alright I got off on a tangent again. Bringing the thread back to the point--->>>Do I need anything in addition to just the assembled shocks and struts to get the stock "like new" ride quality back for a base 06 TL. Already ordered the front and rear assmebled shocks/struts.

Huh. I never thought of putting a Type S suspension on it. Assuming direct swap onto it.
I'd like the best suspension for the best handling. And I test drove a Type S the other day and YES the steering between the two are completely different. It was pretty interesting.

i bought my tl new with the aspec suspension and i LOVE it. it is firmer than stock but still comfortable, at least for me. it is just way more controlled and recovers so much better than stock. its a lot more fun in the curves too. the first time i rode a base tl i was actually a little scared because it didnt handle or stop near as well as my full aspec tl. i highly recommend it. its a nice little drop which really improves the look, and a huge bump in handling and the overall "fun factor" of driving this car.
