Suspension Install Pricing

Hey guys.

Just talked to a guy at a local tuner shop(Forged Performance in Troutdale Oregon) about redoing my suspension. He said that it will likely take 2 hours for front suspension and 2 hours for the back. Does it really take a shop this long to do it? He was talking about both coilovers and springs/shocks setup. He said the install would run around $350. Is that estimate common for a suspension install?
THANKS for the input

That sounds pretty close. I'm getting my new suspension installed next week and I was quoted about 1.5hr for the front, and 1.5hr for the back. I'm putting in new springs and shocks, plus adding a front and rear camber kit as well.

Also, most of the time shops will quote on the high side a bit just to cover themselves. You'd be a little shocked if they said it would take 1hr per side, and then it took 2hrs per side! However, if they get both done in 3hrs after being quoted 4hrs you'll be a happy guy!

I got mine done in just under 3 hours, from a good tuner shop. IIRC it was $175.

I made a deal with the mechanic to install front shock absorbers..

He would charge 1 hour labor + parts (KYB brand $140 each).
Total $350.
3 days later I went back to see him.
I told him I will get KYB shocks from internet for less the $100 a piece, and will give him $100 installation.
He agreed.

What front camber kit did you use? And what suspension setup did you go with?
OP-If you know a buddy that can help, it will take a little over 4hrs, with the appropriate tools, and some knowledge of suspension.

I finally decided on the Neuspeed Super Cup kit with the sport springs. For the front camber kit I went with the Skunk2, and for the rear the Ingalls kit. The install starts tomorrow!

Thanks, Good luck with the rear camber kit (quite simple)! How do you like the skunk2 front camber kit? I have not seen too many people using it, but think it looks like a good product overall.
Op-Not trying to thread jack..

$350 is too expensive. Anything more than ~$200 is too much, even if it's 4 hours labor.

I was an idiot and paid $400 to install my A-Spec suspension (4 hours at $100/hr).

I did my Tein SS myself in my driveway. Took me 6 hours total, doing it alone, with no air tools, and with an hour break for lunch in the middle with plenty of water breaks as it was hot as hell.

Definitely a DIY. Save your $$.

Alignment is always needed with any height change.

If your alignment was good beforehand A-spec isn't enough of a drop to require it. I got mine realligned as I also threw on new tires, but it was very close to spec so not really required. I drive crappy Nova Scotia roads and it hadn't been aligned in over a year.
