Suspension help.
Suspension help.
First, car is a 2007 base TL, bone stock.
I purchased a set of Miro 112 wheels in the 18 x 9.5 +40 size, and know they will fit, but by my measurements they will sit exactly 6mm outside the front fender, and 1mm outside the rear quarter.
First question is; does this sound correct to you for this size/offset of wheel, or could I have made a mistake in my measurements?
Second question is; if my measurements are correct, what's the best way to get that 6/1mm to tuck in while...
- preserving the soft/stock ride quality of my 2007 TL
- maintaining tire wear longevity
- not breaking the bank
My first thought was to buy the A-Spec suspension kit, effectively dropping the car .75", and in the process giving me a little natural negative camber. This is an expensive option IMO, and I'm not entirely sure I'd get a full 6mm of tuck in the front anyway.
Second option is a camber kit for the front, but I haven't researched the cost on this, and I'm afraid I'll eat tires with this option.
Third option is coil-overs, and I'm not sure this will even help at all.
Tire will be a 255/40, which will give me a slight stretch on a 9.5" wheel. Should look fantastic in the rear, but it's the front I'm worried about.
Any advice/info will be greatly appreciated.

I could be mistaken about your current wheel/tire specs, but these are the measurements I get using "willtheyfit.com":

As for suspension, go with A-Spec. It was designed specifically for our vehicle and it shouldn't throw your camber out of spec by much at all; just get an alignment after install. For adjustable camber tools, look into Ingalls rear arms and either Skunk2 UCAs or basic ball joints for the front.

Thanks for the responses guys. That willtheyfit.com site is pretty cool, though I'm not sure it helps me since I know the wheels fit fine, I'm more wondering about the poke out of the front fender. I think this may be something that I need to figure out after the install, as stupid as that sounds. I should have them installed mid next-week, I'll take some measurements then and go from there.
With regards to the A-Spec suspension, I'm not looking for any additional harshness by virtue of added handling, this isn't my handling car
. I'm looking for soft, and comfortable. I'm going to see how my new tires feel, hopefully they're softer than stock because they're 26" OD instead of 25.5", but every tire is different.
Can anyone confirm that installing the A-Spec suspension kit gives additional negative camber?
