Suspension

Hi guys, I bought my 06 TL a few months ago and I've decided that i want to raise the suspension up a bit. The previous owner lowered it drastically and it's an uncomfortable ride. Now i am fairly new to all this so i am not entirely sure if he cut the springs or what he did. Any advise would be helpful, also i don't want to spend an arm and leg on this. Thanks in advance.

Can you take pictures of the wheel well? Take of at least one tires and take a picture of the whole suspension. That way we can see what's going on.

If be cut the springs. Look for some used ones on CL or on the black market.
Or if they are coilovers, you can easily raise it. Just got to see what you have. There are two kinds of coilovers. You either raise it from the top or from the bottom.

The harshness might not go away just because you raise it. (if they are coilovers).

Okay. Seems to be that those are stock struts with aftermarket lowering springs

Nothing you can do to change the harshness or height.

Either buy new/used OEM springs.
Or buy coilovers (best cheap option is the Teins Super Street)

They look like H&R race springs with stock struts. Judging by the ride height, they haven't been cut. I'm sure it rides rough because those struts were not made to work with that spring. If you like the height, you can change out the struts for some that are made to work with the H&R springs to give you a better ride.
If you still want to raise it up, you could get some stock springs but i bet those stock struts are already worn out. So, you would more than likely need to purchase those as well.

Thank you so much. So if i buy the OEM springs it'll go back to the factory height? Also out of the two, coilovers or the OEM springs which would you recommend. Thanks again

Alright so if i get different struts, the ride might be more smooth. Because ride now its not terrible but you can literally feel every single dent in the road

Yep, stock springs will take you back to stock height.

Since you just bought the car and i assume you will have it for a while, I would save up for the TEIN Basic coil overs. They are fairly cheap and ride very well.

OEM springs will make it go back to stock height
The only issue is that those stock struts probably have a lot of mileage on them. Plus the abuse from the lowering springs makes it worse. They are probably ruined or will be soon.

I've never done separate struts and springs. Can't really help there. I've only bought coilovers. I'm running on BC racing coilovers.

Different struts will make it ride better with H&R springs but you might end up spending just as much as the Tein coil overs for a good set. If i remember correctly, most people running H&R springs are using Koni Yellow struts (there may be other struts that work as well). You can price shop around but i bet they won't be much cheaper than the TEIN Basic coil overs.

Yeah good choice cause you probably had to replace the shocks anyways plus you don't want stock oem springs aka 4x4 jeep springs.
and man your car looks slam on those H&R race springs great for looks and horrible for street driving
