Sumitomo HTRZ III

Anyone using Sumitomo HTRZ III 's? If so, would you recommend buying them? Pros or Cons for them? I can't decide between the HTRZ III's or the Pole Position 960's. The HTRZ III's are about $95 less per tire so that's one plus.
Thanks!

The Sumitomo HTRZ III are summer tires and the Bridgeston 960's are all season. Take a look at the 245/45-17 Yokohama W4s, widest tread width made at 9.2", 1" wider than your choices and at $115, great all around tire. Even the section width is 1/4" wider than the Bridgestone.

I certainly wouldn't buy Bridgestone's (my opinion), and never tried the HTRZ III, but the HTR+ that were on the TL were terrible. In fact, they've been sitting in the garage for over 2 years still mounted on the factory wheels.

I had the HTRZ III's on my old rims. They are a great set of tires, no complaints here. They scored very well on the tirerack tests and are cheap as hell too.

I posted this on another thread, someone asking for a quite tire:
"Go to Tirerack and check out user reviews of Sumitomo HTR Z 111. I have them on my A Specs, around 800 milies now and find them terrific. Quiet, as you asked for, as least as quiet as the stock all season Bridgestones, good ride and sticky as well. 245/40/18 at $119 are a bargain. I've had plenty of performance tires (Yoko Prada Spec 2 on my MCS) and these are one of my favorites".

I was initially skeptical about the quality: how can such an inexpensive tire be as good as the reviews say? After 500 miles I have no problem recommending them and see no reason to buy the Bridgestone’s.
Sumitomo is the second largest producer of tires in Japan after Bridgestone, larger than Yokohama or Dunlop.

I had a set last summer and ran them down to the wear bars, they are good tires. In the dry you will be hard pressed to get them to slide. I have the A-spec suspension on my car along with the Progress RSB and the tires were easily able to keep up with my suspension mods. In the wet they lose some traction but what tire dosen't? Overall they are excellent summer tires for the money and I would not hesitate to buy another set. Hope this helps.
