stock tire replacements

When I eventually replace my tires I am going to get something other than the stock ones. I need a recommendation of which ones would be the best. I've read review on tirerack.com and none have really given me a conclusive answer. I don't want the MX4s. I know they are good in terms of tread endurance and quiteness but we all know they a poor in terms of grip at relatively high speeds.

I will be replacing them with all seasons.

**Do not reply if you are going to recommend something like:**

-get 17 inch rims
-different side wall
-lower your car

I want tires with the same exact measurement as the stock tires I just want better grip. I have comptech sways and the car is level I just want something that will increase grip in cornering and hard acceleration.

This won't necessarily be a big mod because, after all, it will be done in necessity for needing new tires, down the road, and it will be relatively inexpensive.

Thanks.

Nice tire that comes with a nice price. Get ready to fork out around +/- $750 or so. Although the Yokohama AVS ES100 are great, they are not all season tires.

My 99 originally came with MXV4's and it would squeal just about every turn... I then went with Pirelli p7000SS, and they were great compared to the MXV4 but they would get loud quickly and wore down more. Since then, I went with Michelin Pilot XGT H4's and you can get them installed at discounttire with lifetime balance/etc.. for $576 plus 8$ tire disposal plus tax. I love them more than any tire i've had as they are very quiet, do not squeal unless trying very very hard to such as almost doing a doughnut, and last a long time too. I also have had the Michelin Pilot XGT V4 and found them to be equally as good as the H4, but decided on the quieter H4 as I do not find myself driving more than 120mph ever anymore(prolly 130+ on our inaccurate gauges).

Hope this helps!

The yoko AVS es 100 IS a great looking and performing tire, I had my 225/45/17s installed testerday and its been raining most of the time and they have stuck like crazy. It took me a while to find this tire not on backorder, tire rack was out, but I finally found them at discount tire direct. the price was a lil' higher then tire rack but they had free shipping which more then made up for it. recommended

I got Kumho Ecsta 712 225/55/16's for my car, and I never knew stock Michelins were that bad! Now I have to turn really hard to make a squeal. It's really cheap at $79 per tire at tirerack.com. not the best, but very good tires for money.

Your better off buying them from Tirerack.com and have them ship to one of their installers here in the city. If you caluated the tax vs. shipping, it's about the same.

True, but it's $79 at Tirerack vs. $92 at Tires.com. Free ground shipping takes 5 days vs. FedEx 3 day saver = $32. Almost the same, but you get it faster from Tirerack.

I had the AVS ES100's mounted today. What a difference over the stock Mishat's! Sticky, responsive and smooth. Try them out. You will not be disappointed. Plus, Yokohama has a 30 day hassel free trial program for these tires. If your not happy, get your money back. I'm excited to try them out in some rainy conditions, due to thier design but I think the rain in So. Cal. is gone until next year. I wanted to step up to the 225/45 17's but the recommended wheel width for that size is 7 - 8.5". Our stock wheels are only 6.5" (2002 TL-S). When your paying over $100.00 per tire, it would suck to have tire problems in the future and find out you voided the warrenty because (technically) the 225/45 was not made for a 6.5" wheel. So, to make a long story short I went with the 215/50 17's.

We had some rain here a couple of weeks ago and I must say that these tires works very well in wet conditions as well. I also noticed the road noise was much better over stocks.

The best tire is the Toyo Proxes T1-S. 215/50/17 Stick with the stock size.
The handling and performance will transform your car. Wet and Dry performance is 5X better than the stock Michelins.
