Definitely go with the 225/55 or 215/55. The 225/50-16 is almost an inch shorter than stock. Here's a tire size calculator to help you decide.

Will 225s fit on stock rims? I have a 2002 TL (non S type) and the 205 stocks are really kinda narrow.

I have 225/55ZR16 Firestone SZ50 tires on my 99 TL. I love these tires. The grip is far better compared to the small stock tires. They fit without any problems.
