SSR Question

Yes I have done a few searches... to get that out of they way. I am lookin at SSR competitions in 17X8 with 225/45/17 tires. The offset is 48. I have my ride lowered on the H&R OE sport springs. Will these rub or should I be ok? The reason I am posting is because I haven't seen many people discuss 17x8's. Thank you in adavnce. Oh and Im looking at gettin the Yoko' ES100's or maybe Potenza RE750's.

from what I've seen you should be okay...but you may have to trim the infamous "plastic tab" on the back fender

You shouldn't have any problems with that setup. I had 17x7.5 with +48 before and it didn't rub at all. BTW, I have ES100 tires right now, but in 225/55/16 and they're great. It's totally different from stock.

The reason why you don't see much people talk about 17's is because most of them likes 18's. Did you consider having 18's?

I got 18's now, but I'd rather save the money on 17" tires because I am getting such expensive wheels. Also, I would be worried about 18x8's fitting well. Thanks for the responses.

go for 18" but if you still want the 17", you should be OK.

Will 235/45/17's work? A 235 tire would fit the rim better, and the 225's are on back order for a few weeks. Just wondering.

That will work just fine. Worse case would require trimming the rear bumper tab off. Good luck...post pics.

I got the package on my car yesterday.... they look awesome. I will take my car out tomorrow for awhile when it isn't raining. I ended up with the Competition's in 17x8 with 225/45/17 Potenza RE750's. The tires have a really nice rim guard on them... that stick out well further than the rims to keep them protected from curbs. I really like the look of the polished lips on the rims. I will take pics when I can. It was also interesting that these arent much wider than the stock rims/tires. Maybe about 3/4" of tread width. But of course they do stick out farther, but rubbing doesn't look like it will be a problem unless possibly the infamous tab if my car was really loaded down with weight.

Ask one of the paying members to post the pics for you. E-mail the pics to him/her and you should be OK to go.
