Springs for 6MT with moderate drop and maintain rake

I am looking for springs for my 2007 TL Type S 6MT. I want a moderate drop (NOT slammed, no tire tuck). I want the car to at least be level, but preferably have a slight forward rake. I have done a lot of searching and reading here on the forums. It seems as though most all springs are designed for the AT and leave 6MT cars with a sagging rear. I like the drop of Eibachs on AT cars, but there is not enough drop on the front of 6MT cars.

The ride must also be comparable to stock. This is my travel car, not my racecar. I have other cars for the track

I know everyone will recommend coilovers, but I am not interested. I have read very good reviews of the Tein Advance set up. I know they are great, so no need to try and convince me of that. Although, if someone wanted to buy my stock Type S wheels, I would consider coilovers

you havent heard of the ASPEC(Acura Specified) suspension?!

Tuned by Acura on a track!
it only drops 3/4ths of an inch and still maintains factory ride.

Yes, I'm familiar with the A-Spec suspension. The cars that I have seen with it, don't even look like they are lowered though. I'm going for a bit more drop. Also, for the cost of the A-Spec, you might as well go coilovers.

its only 3/4ths of an inch!!!

Most aftermarket companies will NOT have the rake you are looking for.
the only one, Ive seen is H&R.

as stated above, the sport springs will give a moderate drop while maintaining the rake look.

It sounds like the H&R sport springs will work well for what I am looking for.

I know a lot of people discourage using stock struts with lowering springs due to decreased life span of the stock struts, but most all accounts I have read are anecdotal (not much actual first hand experience). On the other hand, I have read first hand accounts of least 2 people who have used the H&R sport springs with stock struts for multiple years with no premature strut failures.

Anyone else have any first hand experience?

Thanks

Your signature and progress thread show HT-spec springs. Was there anything about the H&R Sport springs you did not like, or did you just want to go lower?

What I am riding on now. Not tucked and not the rake you are describing.

Ride is comparable to stock.

Save your time and money and get coilovers.

With the 17" waffles and 235/45 you will have gap and more in the front

on 18" RJ legends +32 235/40 the gap will be less still more in the front

Could you post a picture of your car directly from the side like this?

I found the above picture in this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-photograph-gallery-96/gds-nbp-849977/
I would be very happy with this stance. The OP stated this was on H&R Sports and stock struts. He did not indicate whether the car was 6MT or auto though.

I've been running H&R sport on stock TL-S dampers for 4 and 1/3 years and about 59,000 miles. No issues.

Based on your description (moderate drop, slight rake), I highly recommend them.

Just another opinion - my old TL was on S Techs. Pretty good drop and looked very level. It was auto.

Bumping an old thread, might be pickin up some H&R Sports soon. So is there any 6MT owners running these and is it higher in the front?

Thanks for the pics. I installed the H&R sports a couple weeks ago after letting it settle I'm pretty unsatisfied with the drop. There's a 2 finger gap up front and 1.5 in the back. So indeed, the 6mt's do sit higher in the front.

I read somewhere here that you can relocate the front brake line bracket to make it sit a little lower up front. Can't find the post now but I'm about to jack up the car and see if I can do something.

Also ride is pretty bouncy if you're using stock struts. All I can say is coilovers all the way I regret getting these springs.

I loved the look of the tein S techs on my tsx. I think that would give you the stance you are looking for. I had them on stock struts on that car for 25k with no problems. It rode a tad stiffer then stock but most people didn't even notice when in the car. I think im going to get them for my TL-S

The problem with most lowering springs for the TL is they are not nearly as stiff as the Type S springs, so you get terrible ride even if it is lower, for this reason alone im going coils.

Softer springs means better ride quality, at the expense of response. As you can see, "better" is subjective. If you want stiffer AND lower, you can easily chop your stock springs. You just have to be very methodical, calculating & accurate in how you go about doing it.

What makes you say they are softer than S springs? Have you had the springs tested? If so, I would love to see numbers.
