Spring rates

Just curious if anybody ever looked into spring rates for the A-Spec springs. I wonder how they compare to the stock base model springs or to Eibach or H&R?

Just do it. It's a winner looks and handling wise.

Next step up would be Coil-Overs or add Koni shocks to the H&R Sports.

I found this on the Eibach site in the faq section:

"What is the spring rate of the Pro-kit?"
"Only simple linear springs have a spring rate. A sophisticated progressive Eibach Pro-Kit spring has a load/deflection characteristic. The special design paramaters are only accessable through Eibach Desk-Tech Database to Eibach's exclusive partners."

This is interesting because a number of years ago i was using Eibach springs on my Mustang. I e-maild Eibach and asked them what the spring rate was. They did respond and provide me with the rate.

I found this too:

http://www.stangsuspension.com/store...tesarticle.asp

I don't know where this data comes from but the rate for the Eibach Sportline 79-04 is what Eibach gave me for my car. So maybe progressive springs do have a spring rate.

I called Eibach a month ago and asked them what the difference was between the TL and TL-S springs because they have different part numbers. The tech told me the spring rate is the same. The TL-S comes with a bump stop which is why it has its own part number. When I called I didnt bother to ask the spring rate though.

Well, from my research, I found that most company's "sport" springs have similar spring rates, as do their "race" springs. Given that, it boils down to brand preference. The problem, of course, is that you don't know what your stock spring rates are for comparison purposes (or in our case, stock and ASPEC). Based on personal experience, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the ASPEC spring rates are similar to "sport" springs.

S Tech are 307 / 196
H Tech are 296 / 184

Swift springs are 353/140-202
Tanabe springs are 325/134

I got similar numbers for the Tein's, but I used the rounded-off numbers.
