A-spec suspension question...

I realize that the a-spec suspension will lower the vehicle a bit, which is great, but I wasn't able to find the answer to my ultimate question... will this upgrade fix the side hop/bounce I feel when cornering and hitting a slight bump/hole in the road? If not, what would fix it?

p.s. I did use the "search" but was inundated with too much info that didn't answer my question.

You need someone like IHateCars to get a really good answer.

But I think the short answer is "no", it won't "fix" your problem. In fact a sportier suspension will make it more noticable. I think.

It's the nature of the beast; you take an independent suspension, then tie it together with a sway bar and when you hit a bump on an angle, the one-side "pulls" the other and you get a little side-ways hop.

My guess. IHC (among others) would know.

Thanks for the info. I know with my 98 accord, the bounce wasnt as noticeable. However, as it aged it became more noticeable and pronounced. I was hoping to find something that I could do to the car to stiffen it up a bit going around corners.

If you want to stiffen the car when going around corners, I'd suggest a bigger rear sway bar. This would also help in reducing roll. For the bounce..a firmer suspension should help. Try to find someone with an A-spec suspension and ask them for a ride. The A-Spec suspension is a great improvement over stock, I enjoy mine.

i really like the aspec as it gives a sportier feel, better handling, lowers it, but not to the point where you cant drive in certain places...

What's the mileage on your car? If it's higher it's possible your shocks are starting to go, allowing more uncontrolled body movement, aggravating the "bounce".

If so, any replacement shocks, including A-Spec, would be an improvement.

well, I dont know anyone else in the SLC, Utah area that has a TL....

so, that leaves me chatting here. If I can get the cash together, I will get the a-spec kit and a beefier rear sway bar.

btw, my car has about 46k miles on it.

thanks all!

i just installed the aspec suspension this past weekend on my '06 w/65k miles and it is noticeably different. The car stays planted and I think it actually handles the rough roads and bumps better.
