A-Spec Suspension Part # Confirmation

So, I've spent a lot of time searching and I can't find a good thread that has one post that sums up what the current A-spec Suspension part numbers are. And, since it seems like they are continuously changing, I wanted to start a new thread to see if anyone had up to date info for those like me to use. I have an 08 TL-S KBP 5AT and want to go with the current part # for the MT A-spec suspension kit. Looking at threads, I thought I had it figured out until I emailed a vendor claiming to have them all in stock (since they are getting so hard to find this was surprising to me).

I sent this:

"I have a 2008 Acura TL-S 5AT which I'm trying to find A-spec suspension for. Although the car is an AT, I'm looking for the MT suspension as I have read that this allows a more level stance. Some research shows that the part number is 08w60-sep200a. Is this suspension available, or would I have to purchase the MT Sport Suspension kit (which I believe is the same spring rates and dampers), 08W60-SEP-202A? Are these the same kit, just different numbers? "

And I got this in response:

"The part number for the type/s manual trans is 08W60-SEP-201B. 08W60-SEP-202A is for a non type/s model.

For your model, you would need the 201B. Only the manual trans is available."

So, what is correct here? Everything I've read says that all of the manual suspension kits end with an "A" but I'm being told that 201B is the manual kit. This place has the best price I've seen at this point, so I'd like to order from them, but I want to make sure I order correctly.

Sorry for beating a dead horse here, but hopefully someone can confirm the correct # for me.

What I found on another dealer's site which seems to support the feedback I received, but just want to confirm:

Sorry...picture isn't showing up and it won't let me edit the post.

What the site shows:

1. Suspension Assy, ASpec (AT): 08W60-SEP-200 [Discontinued]
I'm assuming this is 07-08 AT A-spec (old #)
2. Kit, Sport Suspension: 08W60-SEP-202A
I'm assuming this is 04-06 AT A-spec
3. MT Kit, Spts Suspension: 08W60-SEP-200A
I'm assuming this is 05-06 6MT A-spec (old #), although
from other threads I was under the impression this was
07-08 TL-S 6MT A-spec
4. Sport Suspension Kit - MT: 08W60-SEP-201B
Assuming this is now 04-08 6MT A-spec based on the
feedback from the supplier I talked to, although previous
threads would say this was the AT kit which supersedes
SEP-200
5. Sport Suspension Kit - AT: 08W60-SEP-201C [Discontinued]
Assuming this was the 04-06 5AT A-spec kit.

Other threads would have led me to believe 200A --> 201A --> 202A which was the progression for 6MT, and 200 --> 201B for the 5AT spring rates, but that just doesn't seem to be the case.

Can anyone clear this up?

Dude, you didn't search very hard. This has been discussed at length. "B" is for MT, "A" is for AT.

Start at post #50.

With all due respect, responses like this are the exact reason I have lurked on this forum for 3 years since I bought my TL-S, but hardly ever post when I have a question. Not everyone has all day to read and search every single post, and find what we can with the time allotted to us. I respect that you have a lot more knowledge than I do on these cars based on your track record on the forum, but show some respect to those that are just trying to get the facts straight and maybe help others who have the same confusion in the future. Take a look at all the threads discussing A-spec suspension kits and part numbers. There are at least 5 others I have pulled up today stating the exact opposite of what you said, saying "it's odd that Acura uses 'A' to specify suspension for a 6MT" but confirming that 200A was for 6MT, 201B is for 5AT, and so on and so forth. If I had time to go back and find them all to explain my confusion I would. Point in case...the exact thread you linked has the same confusion on part #'s almost all the way through, other than you disagreeing with people citing the information provided from their dealerships.

Maybe if there was a sticky that tracked these part #'s and updates as they get superseded / obsoleted / discontinued it would make it clear for everyone. If something like that exists, and you can point me to it, it'd be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, there are tons threads that say something completely different every time, so someone who reads 3 threads in a row (by your logic on trusting the majority of dealers instead of the one that says the opposite) is going to take it as fact that anything with an "A" is manual and "B" is auto, not the other way as you stated.

Just saying...if you want to be annoyed with people asking questions, get a mod to put a sticky and you'll never have to be annoyed or respond dis-respectfully again.

Now...off to look for a 201B kit, I guess.

Thanks again.

The email you received is correct - you're looking for 201B. I took a couple of price printouts similar to the link above to the local Acura dealership. I had the parts person look up the part number and they matched the price. I would suggest you try the same if you have a local dealer.

Also good advice, thanks! I'll have to give it a shot. Maybe if I buy suspension through them they'd cut me a deal on the TB/WP service. Just got to 100k and want to do it soon, but looks like I'll be doing it myself based on the quote for labor they gave me.

Thanks again.

Easy DIY, but get a pry bar first. The DIY is linked in the thread I linked to earlier.

Thanks! I was planning on doing the suspension myself and had looked through that DIY. A few things I wouldn't have thought of and it's very helpful. Really appreciate it.

Those of you who did the KONI or Tokico with stock springs... what were the handling/cornering differences in driving?... not much??? drastic??? Or do you wish you went the ASPEC route?
(.... only want to do this once)
