A-spec suspension install help

Ok, I started installing my a-spec suspension I bought from Tim at hondacuraworld.com. I did the fronts yesterday and it all went well. I did it all by myself and it was easy. I took more time jacking the car up than installing the suspension.

So today, I started installing the rear, had the car on jacks, got all the seats out and the rear deck. But I CAN't get the suspension out!!! This time i had a friend to help but it was no help. I had him stand and jump on the wheel hub and it still didnt give enough room to come out at all. I started to stand on it with my friend and it didnt seem to go down any further so having three people probably won't make it easier either.

So i gave up and just put everything back in

What do i need to do to get it out? Should i get more people to stand on the hub or should i do something different.

kennyc, how did you get the rears out? Did you use a compressor?

If its this hard to get it out, imagine how hard its going to be putting it back in!!!

it was easy for me... I removed all of the top bolts , tbe rsb, and the lower suspension bolt (with a punch) and the suspension dropped out of the top mounting holes effortlessly.

When my husband installed mine he had to use a spring compressor to get the rears out. I would try that route.

That's how it went for me, as well. If my friend hadn't been there to catch the thing, it would've crashed to the floor! The biggest problem I had was getting the hub raised back up and lined up with the coilover to get the lower suspension bolt back in.

Once the lower bolt is out, the hub should drop on its own (or with a little effort), the coilover will fall down, and you just wiggle it out around the hub. Maybe some WD-40 to lube where the hub and coilover connect?

Remove both sides of the RSB and swing it out of the way... It shoudl then fall right out.

no need to remove the RSB... just the link...

spray some wd40 around the seam where the surface of the hub and wheel meet and see if you can rock it loose.

Did you have to use any weight to push the hub down or you didnt use any at all, it just came right out for you?

It took a little force, but nothing outrageous; one person pushing down a little was plenty.

Break out the WD-40, spray it in the cracks, let it settle for a minute or so, and give it a go...probably just a little rust in there.

Make sure your jack or axle stand aren't preventing the strut from dropping out.

I got it out!! Okay what i did this time was I took out that little bracket that holds the abs and brake lines that prevents the bottom of the strut to slide out. So now the bottom of the strut is free and then i was able to push the hub down myself and maneuver the strut out. I didn't have someone to help this time, so it took more effort to push it down but its possible.

Thanks for the help guys!!

How do you like the suspension? I wanted a slight drop and better handling at high speeds so I'm looking this vs. the tein basics. Any thoughts?

The handling is significantly improved and the drop is subtle. Its about 2 and half finger gap now at all corners.

The a-spec suspension is hard to come by alone, so maybe you should opt for the Tein Basics. Why not go for the Tein SS, you can adjust the firmness. Im not sure if the Tein Basics can do that as well?? Is that the diff between the Basics and SS?

For me the drop is not enough, i would probably have wanted 1/2 more inch drop around and feel like getting Tein SS now but I'll will just stay with these. The a-spec suspension does live up the the hype around the forum so they are worth it.
