Cool A-spec suspension: Before & After (TL-S)

I replaced my stock TL-S stock suspension with A-spec earlier this week and here are my results. I have stock wheels, stock tire size (235/45 R17), and no lip kit installed.

My car is an 07 TL-S AT. I used the A-spec for a MT TL (08W60-SEP-201B) to give me more of a drop in the front. The mileage on my car at the time of install was 102,373.

Here are before & after measurements using a tape measure. These measurements were taken right after the install. I will check the measurements again in about a month and if there's any change from the springs settling I'll post an update to this thread.

The first measurement is from the ground to the top of the fender. The second measurement is the wheel gap from top of the tire to the fender. For the wheel gap I put a flat ruler on top of my tire and measured from that with a tape measure. Measurements are in inches.

Before:--------------After:
Front Left-----------Front Left
26 1/4"--------------25 5/8"
gap 1 5/8"----------gap 1"

Front Right---------Front Right
26 3/8"--------------25 3/4"
gap 1 1/2"----------gap 1"

Rear Left-----------Rear Left
26 3/8"--------------26"
gap 1 3/8"----------gap 1"

Rear Right---------Rear Right
26 3/8"-------------26"
gap 1 3/8"---------gap 1"

Change in camber
My before install alignment was on 6/16/2015. My after install alignment was on 7/14/2015.

Before:-------------------After:
Left Front -0.6 ----------Left Front -0.9
Right Front -0.9 --------Right Front -1.2

Left Rear -1.3 ----------Left Rear -1.5
Right Rear -1.5 --------Right Rear -1.6

Overall I'm really liking the new suspension! I love the subtle drop. I especially like how even the tire gap is on all four wheels. I have no desire to be lower. Been there, done that with my old Civic - scraping over minor speed bumps sucks. I have not scraped once with these yet. I love the handling. There's less nose dive when braking. Cornering feels great! I do feel the imperfections in the road more now, but that's to be expected. I wish it was a little smoother in that respect. My old suspension wasn't blown or anything but I'm glad I installed these! Anyways, I hope this helps people decide if they want to go with the A-spec suspension. I was looking for something like this before I purchased it.

Now on to the pictures... My tires did change from the before to after, but the size is the same.

Thanks for the great deal! I knew when I saw your posting on the black market I had to jump on it.

Dude that is exactly what I need! Thanks! Did you order the A-Spec set for auto or manual tranny? I know there's two different sets I think. And, did you buy the set from one of our vendors here at Acurazine?

This is the manual transmission suspension on an automatic TL-S. I bought them brand new off the black market here from VisualEchos. Got a great deal. I lucked out!

Definitely looks nicer this way, and I personally can't imagine it helping the looks to go any lower.

As an unrelated aside, would you mind saying what percent tint your windows are?

I'm not sure exactly. It's from the previous owner. I would estimate it's about 35%. It's not too dark.

Made the same swap on my 08 base TL AT. Really love the subtle drop and the handling is amazing. Swapped a Progress RSB mounted on tight setting and couldn't ask for more.

No trouble at all. I used this DIY to help out in addition to my factory service manual. The suggestions by nfnsquared really helped a lot and helped me to know where to place my pry bar. I did it exactly as he did and it was a breeze. I removed and installed completely by myself and had no problems at all. Just make sure you have a nice long pry bar. I happen to have the same exact craftsman pry bar set that nfnsquared used. Each side of the rears took me about an hour to do, and I was really taking my time. I didn't need to remove the rear deck either. There was enough room to get my ratchet and torque wrench in without removal. Just needed to remove the seats.

The only thing that gave me grief was getting my bottom seat cushion back in after the install. I couldn't get my bolt in the back of the cushion to line up. I tried on that one bolt for about an hour & a half and ended up stripping the threading on the bolt. It's always the stupid things like this that seem to get me...

Great looking result. I'm interested in doing it now. My TL-S is even the same colour as yours, so I know exactly how it will look!

congrats, love the handling of the a-spec suspension

couldn't help but notice that according to your after specs, you're pretty much as low as my car on Tein Stech
I was also on A-Spec suspension and the Tein springs lowered my car a good amount

From all the photos I've seen the Tein S-tech is definitely lower. Not sure why the measurements would be the same.

This is the MT suspension on an AT, which will lower the front a little more than if I used the auto suspension. I'm really glad I went that route! The drop looks very even with the front very slightly raked. The handling feels great. I think the TL-S engine is probably a bit heavier than a base, so that may give it a bit more drop too. Not sure.

I agree with you on the S Tech's being lower. The H Tech will put you at about where the MT ASPEC suspension is and maybe a fraction lower. I'm going with H Tech and Koni yellow and I hope mine sits like the ASPEC.

Wow op, that is the perfect height IMO. Not too low and definitely not too high 4x4!

How much did the setup cost you? You said suspension off an A-Spec, does that mean complete springs/shocks/struts?

I lucked out and found a brand new unused set on the black market here. Got a nice price on it. You can pick up a set for around $600 from several Acura places online. Here's a link to one.

SPORT SUSPNS. KIT-MT | Genuine Acura | 08W60-SEP-201B

Yes, they come as complete assembled units. Shocks/springs with new mounts & everything. You just need to remove the old suspension & replace. No need to get a spring compressor or anything.
