A-spec springs on a Tein Basis coilover

Has anyone done it? Is it possible?

I doubt it's possible. The diameter of the springs alone are different. I don't think it will sit on the perch.

even if it uses the OEM top hats? See, I dont really know because I paid someone else to install them for me. I guess I could measure. and estimate

If they are on, then they work. But the top of the spring maybe the same diameter, but i'm not sure about the bottom. So I can't chime in too much. For my old car for sure I couldn't do that.

I doubt it will work also. Because the uncompressed length of the Aspec springs are right at 13". But the word I got back from Tien, the basis 12kg springs are 200mm long. That is only 7.87". So, even if I lowered the perch, I can only do so by about an inch. However, I do think they will fit on the perch. The basis coilover has a wide perch. And the aspec spring outer diameter is 3.5" at the bottom.
The outer diameter of the Tien spring is 3.8" at the bottom.

But the length is the problem. The aspec would cause too much vertical movement..

However, it may be possible to go with Eibach.

1 other thing to note: The aspec spring on the "bottom" is not flat. The tein spring has been shaved flat. So, if I did this, it would be wise to grid down the bottom of the spring so it would sit flat, on the flat perch. See, the perch on the factory shock is not flat. It is beveled to accommodate the spring that has not been cut or flattened.

fortunately, I do have a grinder, but I won't be doing that on the aspec springs because it would still be too much overall length...

But eibachs might be possible. because they are a shorter spring. And I have some leeway with the height adjustment on the basis coilover.

But, again, I just noticed something on my basis coilovers. The reason I keep going through this rough ride syndrome, is because IT KEEP DROPPING! I checked it again yesterday and I was down slightly below 25" from top of well, to ground.. So, I raised it back up again to about 25 1/4 for the 2nd time. Each time I do that, it rides better. haha or rides smoother.. And that is what I am shooting for. So, for a few days, it rides fine again.. I will have test again later.. It takes a while because I don't drive my car hardly at all during the week. I avg. about 3500 miles a year for the past 4 years. only 73k total now..

Anyway.. more facts:

I called Eibach and presented the situation about trying to make it ride smoother.. And he said he could sell me some springs to mount on the Tein coilover, but he needs some measurements.. So, I emailed Tein, and I got this data.

Tein Basis 12kg/6kg:
"The springs that come on the front are a full length of 200mm with a 70mm inside diameter. The rear uses a taper style spring the full length of the spring is 250mm the top inside diameter is 90mm and the bottom is 70mm. "

separately, both Aspec and Tein springs have a 14mm thickness coil. I measured it myself with my micrometer.

1 last comment.. it is easy to see how stiff a Basis coilover rides when you consider just 1 parameter.. "The spring length".

The Tein is 7.8/13" = 60% the length of aspec.. No wonder it has such a rough ride because the travel is cut down by at least 60% with much increased dampening.. So again, I don't know why anyone would need the Street Advance unless your goal was to go softer.. And even then, Tein makes no mention about going softer than Basis on the SA page.. They only say "up to 200% more damping"...
