Stick to the Grand Touring tires if that is your primary requirement. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 for sure meet that requirement, with the biggest drawback being their price. There are plenty more options out there. Search the forums, look at reviews on tirerack, and then make a decision. Another crowd favorite is the DWS 06.

Oh gosh you did not just recommend that tire! That tire is expensive junk, made to wear a long time, so several manufacturers made deals to use them as OEM, but they're terrible.

OP: If you want quiet and soft, choose the Premier A/S.

Hmmm, I've had a set of Primacy MXV4s on my 2001 Accord for over three years and 50,000 miles now; to be sure they are not a high performance all season tire, but they are quiet, comfortable, have very acceptable traction on dry pavement as well as in wet and snowy conditions. Oh yeah, and they seem to be good for an easy 70,000 miles besides.

Granted I'm not at all sure what the differences between the MXM4s and the MXV4 are, but if they are at all alike, I strongly recommend the MXV4s to the OP as they meet his or her requirements to a tee.

Edit: I see the MXV4s are either no longer made, or are not made in the 235/45 R17 size. Given that tidbit of data, if you are inclined to stay with Michelin tires, I agree with you, the Premier A/S seem a better option than the MXM4. Another option I've experienced on different cars, and will probably choose for my next set of tires on my TL is the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tire; we ran those on my wife's former GTI and they were a great balance between bone jarring high performance tires and water-bed soft luxo tires.

It is junk from a performance view, but it works perfectly fine. I have had them on my car for the past 50k miles with zero issues. Yes, they are expensive which I called out. But they do their job with no fuss. There may be other options out there that are better, and many that are worse. The forums have been over this many many times...what is junk to one is perfectly fine. What is perfectly fine to one is junk to another. The MXM4 is not a rockstar by any means. It is a quiet, stable, smooth, and even wearing tire....although a tad pricey. Keep in mind, I loved my EL42s when I first got my car...until they wore down half way and they were just absolutely scary to drive in the rain.

Your comment of the Premier A/S being a better option...that I won't disagree with as a possibility. By reviews and specs, it should be. I just have never used it.

What the OP also didn't specify was the rest of the requirements they have for their tires. Every tire has a trade off. Define your requirements and rank them...then find a tire that falls within those guidelines. Do you care about winter traction? What is your price range? That will really help to narrow down the field. There are lots of tire discussions in the past 6 months that have touched on many use cases ranging from the guys who go for max traction to those looking for the quiet/smooth ride. My next set of tires will "probably" be the Premier A/S, DWS06, or the P Zero AS+....all based only on ratings and prices. I have no experience with any of them other than what I have found on this forum and on tirerack. They all have similar performance ratings and are lower cost than the MXM4.

Compared to.....? This isn't a "I have had 1 set of tires, so they are the best" type of thing, tell me the other sets you have had that you compared them with.

Many-many tires and 2.5 million miles of driving.
