So I smacked a curb in the snow today...

So I stupidly tried turning an s-curve that I frequent into a slalom course in my TL-S today. I have never driven my TL-S in such heavy snow, and I scraped the curb with my front right rim and messed up my alignment. I'm having the rim and tire replaced just in case, but now I'm seriously considering purchasing better tires for my TL-S that are designed for winter travel. The Acura dealership provided me with a 01' Buick LeSabre. This beast negotiates turns in the snow much better than my TL-S. I tried the same slalom maneuver in the Buick (this time in an empty parking lot) and the Buick handled the turn perfectly.

A friend of mine who owns a BMW 325i was told by the dealership that his tires are not designed for snow, so they talked him into buying snow tires. You think snow tires would make much of a difference in maneuverability? If so, which tires would you recommend?

TIA

ORDER A SET OF SNOW TIRES SUCH AS THE MICH ARTIC ALPINS OR THE BLIZZAK WS 50'S YOU WILL SWEAR THAT THERE IS NO SNOW OR DRIVING A AWD (almost) BUT CLOSE SNOW TIRES MAKE A HUGE DIFERENCE

For sure any car, suv, or light truck would handle much better with 4 winter tires in the snow & ice. This is any car even with ABS,TCS,AWD,& STABILTY CONTROL SYSTEMS. TIRE RACK send me a winter catalog each fall with winter tires & wheel tire package selection. The catalog also has them testing cars with brands of winter tires on there ice rink test track. The cars they have pictured this year are all LEXUS IS300 that are being tested on the rink. But even in your ACURA owners manual it says to use snow tires if you are going to drive in snowy conditions. Thats why I purchased a set of 4 MICHELIN Arctic- Alpin tires a few years ago for my 2000TL.
Iam going to get them put on tomorrow mourning. They are now predicting possible 4 to 8 inches of snow in Washington D.C. If that happens the city will shut down most likely. We don't have all the snow plow stuff like Philly P.A. just 120 miles to the north of us.
