So i have a tire question
I live in Bx NY the streets out here are ridden with potholes everywhere. Last year i went through 3 Ron Jon Inspyres. I know i know its the price we pay for having nice wheels 19's btw. But this year i'd like to have a better year and spend more on wifey and less on new rims and tires. But before i do that, this year so far ive bought a new set of wheels that are going to be put on soon as my car comes out the shop from tranny rebuild. I also must add i drive pretty cautiously and try to avoid any bumps or potholes. I know a big part of it is the quality of wheel, im mean i thought Ron Jons would be able to hold up but .... :thumbsdow
Im going to give the Ron Jons a rest for this spring and summer and im looking to put these new wheels on....
So my question for you folks is what brand of tire is strong enough to withstand the poorly paved streets of NYC. I mean is there a brand of tires thats strong enough to withstand some potholes and help protect my new wheels???
Let me know what brands you'd suggest...
BTW im dropped with tein super sports, pretty low. Im looking for a 19" tire

Tires aren't going to afford rim protection from pot hole damage, especially with the small side wall of the 35 series tires. Even our 245/45-17 tires on the chrome OE wheels are no match for some craters. Years ago I made contact with a crater that was in the shadow of a bridge, struck it with the 2 right side tires and ended up with a split front wheel and a bent rear wheel. Only car in my lifetime in which I encountered a bent wheel or wheels.
