Snow tire size?

I'm trying to pick up some end-of-season snow tires. I have Sumitomo 235/45zr17 on the car now. What size snow tires can I use? I haven't the foggiest idea. I appreciate the help.

Same size ..

I ran 225/45/17 for the last 3 winter.. smaller footprint .. worked very well ... seemes like 225 was a lot lower $$ than 235 for some reason.

If you stay with the 17" wheels, same OE size is fine.
The 225/55-17 is almost 1.5" taller, which is quite a bit, so I would stay away from those.

I would suggest 225/50/17" Tall and narrow goes through snow. Wider is worse. TOO tall like 225/55/17" will make the car handle worse. I am getting snows in Nov 09 and will probably get Bridgestone LM-25 VR speed rated snows, DON'T get Q rated snows, they handle really bad. I will stick with OEM size snows, 235/45/17" on OEM wheels. I was considering 225/50/17"

I appreciate the help. I'll definitely stay away from the 55's then. But, I could go with 225..? great and thanks.

I went with 215/50/17 as the tires I wanted were not available in 225. They are a little smaller than stock size (speedo overestimates speed). After 2 winters, I can say the narrower tread works better than the 235 I had before in deep snow and wet snow conditions.

Little late for snow tires, isn't it?

I went with stock size on a second set of stock rims. Bridgestone WS-50's FTW! Now replaced with the WS-60. I would buy these again without hesitation.
