signs that your wheels are bent?

Obviously if the wheels are bent really bad, you'd be able to visually see it... but what if it's only a little bent? Will air pressure still stay?

Reason why I ask: I have a slight vibration and I can't figure out what it is...

F.Y.I. I have 19"x8" Forged multi piece wheels (Rezax IIs by "Work" wheels).

Take it in and get the wheels balanced. Only then will you know if the wheels are out-of-round.

you can take your wheel off and put it into a bath of water to check for a leak (ie, you get air bubbles). rebalancing can give you another detail. does the center bore of the wheel fit your car? if not, maybe get some hubrings to fill in the "gap." and if there is a gap, make sure you do a good job with the lugnuts to get your wheel centered.

There's no leak, cause I check the pressure all the time... having 19's... They used go a little low about every 3 weeks or so... and they're still the same... nothing out of the norm... As for the "fit" question... I mean... I've had these wheels for 2 years now... and this vibration just started about 2 months ago... I check to see if there's any abnormal wear like the inside all the time and they seem to be wearing evenly. I'm not sure what you're talking about as far as the "gap" thing goes....

well, measure the diameter of the center bore and the diameter of the hub where the two meet together. if there is a difference, then a gap exists. a hub ring is a precisely-made thickness of metal that fills in the gap. some have told me this creates more surface area to mount the wheel, but i think it's only used for centering. i guess if you have tried everything, hit up a couple of rim and tire shops and see what they have to say.

i think www.wheeloptions.com in el monte will have them, but they are not close to you. i think most rim shops should be able to get you generic hub rings. wheel warehouse in anaheim/oc?

Wink

I have a bent rim. It showed up when I had the tires rotated and balanced. When they spin the tire to balance, the tire will wobble. The offset is parallel to the shaft. It can't really be corrected by adding weights. It can be repaired, if it's not too bad. If not it should be replaced before it destoys the tire.

...I found out... one of my wheels are bent

Do you guys know if they can fix 3 piece forged wheels? I'm sure they can to a certain point, depending on how bad the wheel is, but someone told me that, because it's forged, they might not be able to fix it...

i'm not sure what part might be forged...wheel face, rim cylinder, both? anyways, the wheel is put into a jig and pressure is applied (maybe heat too) until it is forced back into roundness. i have had wheels (ssr gpo, 5zigen heidfeld) fixed at tru-wheel in north hollywood. you can also try wheels america in stanton (probably closer to you). it's probably gonna cost you at least $100+ and the shine on the lip afterwards will probably be a lil different than the rest.
