Selecting wheels

Selecting wheels
I plan to get some perfomance tires in a year or two. I'm thinking about getting 17's or 18's. Anyone know what size tires I need without having to lower my car? Or does it need to be lowered? (I know it is for better performance and handling.) I'm not that big on fixing it all up and stuff, just want some nice wheels to compliment the car.

I am running 205/50/17ZR rated tires and the difference from stock is not that noticeable or also a 215/50/17. If you go 18's you would probably want a 215/45/18 or 225/45/18 tire

Welcome.
It depends on the tire measurements. You want to try to maintain the overall diameter of the stock wheels/tires (25.7")
That way the only reason you should drop would be appearance. Bigger tires can leave a slight more wheel gap but it's up to you. You could always get the tires and if the wheel gap is ghastly, drop it about an inch.

Ill tell you what worked for most of the TL owners here... for a 17 inch rim, the tire size should be 215/50/17 or a 225/45/17 but for a 18inch rim, the size should be 215/45/17 or 225/40/18...this is of course with a correct offset and a rim that is at least about 7.5 inches in width...
