Running different tire sizes in the front and back
Hi,
I bought my 05 TL just about a week ago. The car has 245/45/18 tires on A-Spec rims.
The rear tires are almost gone, the front still has about 70% thread left.
A friend of mine has a pair of 235/40/18 that's about brand new, he's willing to give them to me. I know the 245/45/18 is about 1.3 inches larger in diameter.
Is it going to be ok to run the smaller 235/40/18 in the front, and the larger 245/45/18 in the back.
Thanks in advanced!

As the difference is about 5%, I don't believe it would deactivate the ABS, but could cause the system to activate each time the brakes are applied as the RPM variation, front/rear, would indicate an unsafe condition exists. Have heard reports that different diameters have been used with no problems, but that wasn't on an Acura, and I wasn't a witness to the reported cases.
Stick with the same size to be sure.

What about running 2 different brands of tires on each side? ie, one brand on front/back driver side and a different brand on passenger side front/back. Does that affect anything?
That is fine as long at they all are the same size i.e. 245/45/18 on all 4 corners no matter who makes them.
When you think about it tires are the only thing conecting you to the road. While at really slow speeds it might not matter, once things speed up you might want all 4 of those little rubber patches to do the most they can.
