RIDE QUALITY WITH 20's or 22's
Hey , I just wanted to know hows the ride quality with 20 or 22 inch rims? I'm thinking about getting 22's on my tl but I've been hearing some things about the ride quality that it's real crappy, so let me know what you guys have expierenced. Thanks.

Ride quality with 20's isn't bad... However, I did upgrade my suspension before I put them on... you will always get more road feel when you put 35 & 30 series tires on a car...
I don't know about 22's on a TL... might be way too big to fit right... you're going to be running on rubber bands...

If you are good with body shaping- have at those panels and add some
fiberglass- lets see it!

if you think about this question for a second...say you're wearing sandals....then take them off and put on some rubberbands....how do you think YOUR ride quality will be? less rubber...less protection...cheers

20" wheels fit fine as long as you have the right offset and tires 22" wheels do fit they make 22"x8 and 22x7.5 and 22x8.5 with the high offset but the tire is a 245-25-22 and it is very thin my friend is running it on his pontiac bonneville but I think 20" is as high as you should go unless you don't drive it then put on 22" if that is your thing.

I have 20s on my TL and the ride quality is great........no problems at all but 22s........not a good idea.....stick with the 20s. My next ride which is coming soon, will mostly have 19s with a serious staggered setup.

God... 20s are pretty much as big as you should go... 22s are absolutely ridiculous on a TL, especially if you want to actually try driving it sometimes... one thing you're gonna notice is that huge chrome rims are gonna slow your car down... getting all that weight rotating is gonna take energy away from actually moving your car forward, not to mention you'd be riding on rubber bands and would be feeling every crack in the road

The TL is not meant to be treated like a one of those pickup trucks with 6 ft high tires you see at car crushing events. Don't you have anything better to do with your money?

A G35 is a lot different than a TL... the 22s look a little big (I'd say 21" is the highest a G35 should go ), but the G35 doesn't look like a 4x4 on 22s like that photo of the TL posted earlier does

The better half just asked me about 20's, so a quick look for a pic and I come across this with the most horrendous looking TL I've ever seen!
It does beg to question tho, I've had thoughts of going to a summer a-spec + 18 + summer tires and then swapping back to stock + flaps + 17 + winter tires type a setup... Extra bumper covers and all.
Or
Should I just go back to driving a 4x4 truck?
It's a rhetorical question I pndered and shared,
cause the TL ain't no 4x4.

to the OP - I think it depends on what tires you go with. If you keep the proportion of tire thickness to wheel size the same on a 20 as it is on a 17, the ride quality should be about the same. Now given this, you probably cant do this because it wouldnt fit in the well or would rub, plus it wouldnt look very good.
Therefore when you drop to the lower profile tires, your 'cushion' is less and therefore the ride is harsher.
