Ride Heigt for Winter -- Aspec Lip with Tein SS

Hey all, just wanted to get your numbers for what ride height I should use for winter. I'm gonna use my stock rims with General Tire Altimax Artic on OEM tire sizes.

I never took down the stock height measurements before lowering my car.

Also should I raise it back to stock height, or a little higher? To save my front lip from miscellaneous disasters.

Any help is much appreciated.

do you live in antartica or something?? id say 4x4 that beast! luckily i live in so cal. and i can run my car slammed all year round with my rims

i mean if you experience a lot of snow where you are then I guess raise it back up to stock height, kinda sucks cuz 2 times a year you will be doing alignments though.

If you're lowered around 1.5" or less, you probably won't have many issues unless you're trying to plow through 6" of powder which you'd get stuck in anyways. I just ordered a set of Altimax Artic for my Mazda3 for snowboarding season on the pass. The Mazda is lowered 1.25" on Eibach Pro-Kit/Koni Yellows and ground clearance is never the issue.

Your main concern is finding traction which you've addressed. If you're lowered 2.25" or so, you might want to just bring it up 1". The front A-Spec lip is pretty forgiving in its design that you shouldn't have many issues unless you're already rubbing drivingways from being too low.

Thanks for the insight guys. It was very mug appreiated. I raised it back up about 1.5 inches. Before I didn't gave any finger gap between the tire and fender. Now I have a 2 finger gap.

I think I should be fine. Just to clarify, I live in Toronto Canada, which sometimes we get hit hard with snow.

This is going to be my first year driving my TL in snow. Has it parked for winter while I drove the winter beater (RIP, which is now all seized up).

So this should be interesting.

Crusty chunks of ice/snow will be your worse enemy if anything. The kind that builds up and falls off the wheel well edges near the mud flaps. I had BF Goodrich Winter Slalom 215/60/16 one winter shortly and traction was amazing. Night and day compared to my 245/40/18 F1 A/S at the time. I had trouble getting the ABS to engage purposefully in many instances screwing around. The General Altimax Artic is a much better tire from what I've read. The technology advancements are immediately noticeable comparing the old school Winter Slalom to the Altimax Artic. The Altimax Artic have very soft rubber compound while the traditional Winter Slaloms studs have harder rubber and try to make up for it with siping.

yes cant go wrong with a beater. but if you are going drive in the snow id raise it up as highest as you could go or swap back to stock, but it all varies on location and how much snow you get. when i lived in minnesota we always had about 3 ft of snow so i always ended up take my aftermarket suspension out and went to stock. always made it easier to dig out if we ever got stuck. i miss my blizzaks
