Ride Concerns
I have ordered an 05 TL and anxiously await its arrival. However, recently I have spoken to two 04 TL owners who have each complained vociferously about the ride of the car. They are saying that on the open road it is fine, but take it on a city street with bumps and expansion joints and it is a completely different experience. One owner compared it to a truck ride. My, a 33000 car which rides like a truck? Could it be the Bridgestone Turnaza tires that are the original equipment? Or is this the expected performance ot the sporty side of the TL? Please ease my mind.

Ride Comfort??
Lots of reasons... IMO.
Did you testdrive theirs? How did you feel like your testdrive in dealership?

- what you drove before: If you drive camry, you may feel bumpy with 04TL in rough roads.
- 17" low profile wheel/tires: less cushion. (plus, EL42s suck)
- tighter than usual suspenion on 04TL: compare to 2G TL. (ain't sport tuned yet)
- Preference: Similar to #1, but this is more like what you think about this 33k vehicle should be, be like a few k more ES.

The sporty nature of the TL, does mean that the bumps and rough roads will be felt more than a "cushy" car. It is nowhere near a truck ride. The TL is so smooth on good roads that when you hit rough roads it, by contrast, feels rougher. IMHO I find the TL to be almost too soft for my tastes.
Two comments - If you have to drive a lot over rough roads and ride is more important than handling, the TL may not be the best choice. Also be sure to thoroughly test drive your new car BEFORE you sign the papers. Take it on some railroad tracks or rough spots and check it out. Good luck!

PS, If the ride is really too rough for you, you might try to get the dealer swap out the Crudestone EL42's for some better riding rubber (several threads here have commented on the improved ride of some tires.) Also moving up to the 245 section width, improves the ride.
