i woke up this morning with flat tires, i found out someone slashed my front tires on my car, and now i need to buy new ones. I wasn't too fond od the performance of the factory michelins, so i am wondering, what tires do your suggest for a stock TL-P rim. I don't need snow tires or anything, b/c it doesn't snow down here, i want something that is has a decent price, but has grat dry weather performance and wet weather also.... suggestions and prices are appreciated, thanks...

That sucks balls. I like Michelins personally but wider ones... I'm still on my original stock set though

By the way, check the web site, they quoted me $12 a tire more in the store, until I whipped out the print of the web site.

He needs 16' for his TLP but everything else should be useful, atleast it was for me cus I'm lookin to replace my Sumi htr+'s after about 25k hard miles, They were great but here in so cal I think i should have got the sumi HTRZ11 they're a summer tire that look hot but have good wet road reviews.
hey ya and pmptx can we get a shot of the 235/45/17s? I was going to go one bigger than stock with some 225/45/17, but second guessin now

all seasons go with the Conti's xtreme contacts or the HTR+, they are probably the two most popular and best tires out there right now. Sears does a match guarantee. Find it on tirerack.com or tires.com and print out the tire you want. Take it to sears and they will match that price plus 10% of the difference. Save some $$ and get good tires!!
I have the conti's and I love them. My friend has the HTR+ on his BMW and he swears by them. you make the call!

What is the coldest temperature that you encounter?

humm... the coldest? probably 20's-30's? i live in new orleans and it doesn't snow down here at all.... it get's cold, but our cold days are probably nice days for people up north... i ended up finding a set of tires for a great deal, some factory michelins for 200 already mounted and rotated oh yea, and he's throwing in a set of clear headlights for 150 more....

How about Bridgestone re950? They are rated very well on tirerack.com

Bridestone Turanza LS-H; I have four on my TL and love them - way better than stock all around.

I'm finally waiting on a set of these after much decision making. I wanted to get a remote starter for my car too and I felt that spending $700 on a new set of tires and wheels would be too much and that this would be a decent compromise since I still use the stock Type-S alloys. It doesn't seem to snow here in Detroit as much as I had initially imagined. All I know is that my stock worn Michellins need to go.

So the set of 16" 5-spoke TL-P wheels I bought last fall will soon be up for sale.

Hopefully, I will not get a vibrating set of tires that some members have reported with the Continentals.

Good luck. I just sent mine back to TireRack. They vibrated bad on the highway. Other than that, they were nice.

Ended up with Yokohama AVID V4S 215/50/17 93V XL tires. Love them, period. $470 mounted & balanced from Discount Tire.

I'm not sure that Pirelli offers the P zero Nero M&S tire in 16" but I just put a set of 225/45/17 on my car and I wouldn't have anything else. These are really great tires. I live in North Louisiana and had them shipped from Discount Tire for $516

I purchased a set of Dunlop SP Sport 5000. Are these any good? I'm waiting until my stock ones wear down (6k on stock ones) so I can mount them. Should I return them?

i got all seasons for my TL, plus one bridgestone turnanza, good tire for the winter, could b better for the winter. for the price paid well worth it.

the summer brings out the poenzas, not as worth the money as the turnazas

is how tires handle i nthe winter really that big an issue for you?....beignt hat you live in florida and all..

As I have already posted in the Sumitomo thread . . .

I went ahead and purchased 4 Sumitomo HTR+ tires 10 days ago to replace the original Michelins that came with my 2002 TL-TypeS. Since day one I have had an oscillation/wobble in the rear end at low speed and around 45-50MPH. They, Sears, had the tires re-balanced and there was NO improvement. Alignment is good and this oscillation/wobble was NEVER present before the tires were replaced. I had a "Satisfaction" return time period ; thank gawd!

I got a great price on the Sumitomos but I now have the new BFGoodrich Traction T/A 215/50V17; great price on these as well. Reviews are good, tread is similar to the Michelin OEM but BFG makes pretty decent tires so we'll see how they perform over time. My first impressions are VERY positive. Ride is firm and very responsive albeit a tad noisier than the Sumitomos but I could tell within a day that I like this BFG Traction T/A ride much better than the Sumitomo HTR+

The BFG Traction T/A comes with a 60,000 mile warranty, fwiw, and has a serious amount of tread on it. I have absolutely nothing against the Sumitomos they just did not work out for me. I would definitely check out this new BFGoodrich Traction T/A though, it's much better than the OEM Michelin.

Personally, I will NEVER pay the extreme over-inflated (pardon the pun) prices Michelin asks for their tires; what BS.
