Rear Tires rubbing with ASPEC rims and suspension

On my 2005 TL when I have rear seat passengers my rear tires are rubbing on the fenders. I have gunmetal ASEC 18x8.5" wheels with 245/40-18 tires and the APEC suspension. Anyone else have this issue? I so what is the best way to resolve it.

Haha, that's impossible.

I would check the rear fender well for another explanation.

^That's what I was thinking.

Do you rub when there's no one in the car? That's totally different than rubbing when the car is full of people and stuff. No matter if you're on stock suspension or dropped, if your car is loaded up with shit, you're most likely going to rub.

265 tires, A-Spec auspension and 8,5 rims...

No rub even when loaded.

Car: 2004 TL Dynamic
Tires: Yokohama Envigor 265/35/18
Rims: 2004 A-Spec 18x8,5
Suspension: A-Spec

You shouldn't have any problem with 245/40/18.

I looked under the car and cannot see where it is rubbing. Could a bad shock be bottoming out causing the rub?

A bad shock is the most logical thing I can think of! Are you the original owner? Did you install the ASPEC kit? Check the rear sway bar and the bushing that hold the bar, just a thoght.

I am the original owner. I had the suspension kit install at a speed shop 4 years ago and I estimate the suspension has about 60,000 miles on it.

Check and see if the ASPEC rear bottles are wet with shock oil, if so, that may be your problem.lol

The rear shocks are dry no oil leaks that I can see. I can't tell about the area covered by the rubber slleve.

Maybe someone set your TOE incorrectly on an alignment. Either way, a little fender roll/cut action and you'll be all set for the future too.
I run 8.5" aspecs on a 235 tire WITH a rear 20MM spacer. No rub.

I can't think of any other problem. It is strange, but I would give a more detailed check to the rear shocks, you may find the problem covered by the shock rubber sleeves. In addition, the springs may have lost their productive life.

also, jack car up and see what you can see...if you're rubbing you'll burned something...paint, or that carpeting stuff...see where it's rubbed.

Is there any wear on the tire that you notice? You can always throw some chalk on the tire. Drive around then jack up the car and look for where the chalk is on your fender.

That's a great idea. I can definately repeat the rub however I need to have 4 people in the car and go over cetain roads that cause the rub. I'm already thinking about replacing the suspension with a new ASPEC set I saw on eBay for $635.00 shipped w/ no tax.

Replacing all the springs and shocks seems to have done the job. The dealer how installed the new suspension said the front compliance bushing are torn and wants $580.00 to replace them. I haven't had them done until I can check into it a little bit as the cost seems really high given the parts are about $50.00

Dude...there's a HUGE thread on this. I don't see why this would cause you to rub unless they meant when you take a huge curve and the tires lean out.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-problems-fixes-114/04-08-front-lower-control-arm-bushing-failure-please-read-look-707888/

Will cost you parts and some time and a machine shop.

Rockstar,

The suspension replacement fixed the rub. The dealer was pointing out the torn bushing as maintenance issue and not a factor in the rubbing. Thanks for the link I haven't decided if I'm going to try it my self or take it somewhere to have it done.
