Quick Question...

I read the garage and got most of the info I need...but I didn't see this particular wheel/tire combo discussed.

I've found a set of 18 x 7.5 rims I really like, and was wondering how doing the recommended tires for 18" rims (245/40's) would work with only a 7.5" wide rim. Any issues I'd need to be concerned about? And...is the 245/40's the only recommended tire on 18's to keep the speedo consistent? Thanks...

7.5 is not wide enough on the wheel, you shouldn't go lower than 8, especially since you're getting a larger diameter wheel

Thanks for replying...

I'm a bit confused, though. Is there no tire I could use on an 18 x 7.5 rim, then? The rim I want only comes in either 17 x 7 or 18 x 7.5. The guy at the wheel place didn't seem to think there'd be a problem with the 7.5, but then again he's probably just trying to sell me something. Would I have any decent options of another tire size to use on the 18 x 7.5 that would keep the speedo accurate? I'll go with the 17 if I have to, but I'd prefer the 18.

Thanks again for your help...
