Question to all tire experts
I'm considering buying rims Axis Se7en Mod (18x7.5, 5x114.3, offset +47). What size of tires should I buy? 225/40-18 or 225/45-18? If I buy 225/45-18 does the wheel gap decreases by .5 of an inch? Should I expect some rubbing? My car is not lowered. Thanks

if you're not lowered, don't even worry about rubbing with that wheel size.. yes the tires are about .5 diff..
if you can get some 225/45, go for it.. I think there are very few of those available.. the Bridgestone S-03 are your best best in that size..
with 225/40, you have alot more choices.. but if you get wheels..it's almost a sin if you don't get a little lowered

225/45 two top choices are the Michelin Pilot Sport or the S-O3
225/40 the Kumho Ecsta MX is getting great reviews.
Pretty much a matter of choice. I don't think you go wrong with either size. Agreed. Rubbing w/out lowering here is no problem. If you are thinking of lowering, I'd go 225/40.

with 225/45 you will have a smaller wheel gap and more protection for your rims but there are not many choices for tires like everyone says.. and if u dont plan on lowering i would go 225/45, if u go 225/45 you can do H&R OE Springs.. Tuff Gong has this setup and it pretty good for those that cant or dont like it too low... but most people with 18's go 225/40

The tire sizes actually differ by .81 of an inch. That is the total diameter, so divide that by 2 and that is the difference in wheel well gap. Oh I almost forgot, the R stands for radial.
If you have the money get the Michelin Pilot Sports........
