Progress RSB
I finally installed my Progress Rear sway Bar along with some new tires. Man, why did I wait so long? (its was sitting in my garage for months) I have so much more confort in hard cornering now! I went with the softer setting, but I'll probably switch it to the stiffest soon to see what a difference that makes. What a great low cost, easy to install mod!

^ exactly i think its one of the first must mods a TL owner should do in order to make the car handle better in turns.
cheap and easy install ... should be a no brainer purchase

a rear sway is usually one of the first things I do to my cars and definalty one of the best mods you can do to any fwd to improve cornering abilities.

I'm considering the RSB but have seen a few threads where the mounts have cracked, especially when used on stock suspension. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is there any benefit to using it on stock suspension or should I upgrade that first?

^i bought the progress RSB before I had suspension.
BECAUSE it is a tension bar, it stiffens BOTH wheels.
When going over speed bumps or drive ways, MAKE SURE YOU DRIVE STRAIGHT on.
if one side FLEXES too much, it will put stress on one side of the subframe, resulting in a cracked subframe at the mounting point.

^While true that very very rarely ever happens.
Buy the PRSB. It's one of the best mods you can do and it's less then $150.

there are lots of threads on it cracking the subframe.
I bought my Progress bar from some one who didnt want to deal with it cracking AGAIN.(it was a steal at $90)
I make sure that my driving habit has changed. I go over speed bumps EVENLY.
Ive had the P bar for 2 years now, No cracks at mounting Points!!!

I'd think it is pretty rare as well. Compare number of problems with number purchased.
Obviously some guess work and not definitive, but seems like a pretty low failure rate. And likely due certain, other-than-normal, conditions.

I am at 100k miles on stock suspension and no problems so far. I haven't had it on long, though.

So the stress is more a result of rolling over uneven surfaces than cornering? If that's the case then I suppose simply being a little more careful over speedbumps, potholes, etc. would be sufficient. What if you were to take uneven surfaces a little slower? Driveways and concrete ramp/entryways from the street are difficult to take evenly most of the time.
Oh, and would the 'softer' setting decrease the likelyhood of stress and cracking? I know most of this is theory and heresay but a best guess is probably as good as I'm going to get

I would think that 'soft' would be less likely to have a problem. Seems to make intuitive sense.
It's a great mod. Do it. Use the supplied hardware and bushings. Be careful to square up over bumps/curbs, etc.

i bought the progress rsb from xlr8 with group buy pricing. i think it was around 120 shipped. has been on the "stiff" setting since day 1 and was by far one of my favorite mods. not only does balance improve in sharp turns, but you can feel the difference in the steering wheel with everyday driving. the car feels less boat-like when changing lanes with aggression IMHO

I cracked mine, it happens more than people know.. not a bunch but enough times that I was annoyed I didnt find the threads until after I cracked mine
edit: I beleive mine cracked from pushing into ramp turns really hard and fast.. and also those pot holes or going around a turn with uneven pavement.. cant say one thing caused it but it did happen.. and it is more an exception than the rule from what I have read
to fix I just had someone reweld the subframe.. the part that cracked an also the other side to make sure there are no weakness any more in the subframe
if I had to do it again I would in a heart beat.. well worth it.. especially waving bye to people who are on my tail when going around on the ramps

I think mine is an isolated case. I'll take pictures when I get around to fixing it. I heard a snap one day, not the usual clunk. Took a few familar turns hard and not only did it have more bodyroll but the steering wheel felt heavier and it understeered more at the limit. I haven't even gotten around to ordering a new plate but I need to since it serves as the nut for the bolt that attaches the shock/spring to the lower control arm.
