Professionally Painting Axis Hiros Black

Hello,

I absolutely love the axis hiros, and they would look great in black with a chrome lip, but they dont sell it. Anyone have any experience with professionally painting rims? I would love to get them in black.

anyone with any experience with this, i would love to hear from you. Opinions appreciated.

It comes out great if you get them professionally sand blasted, use quality paint, and etch the aluminum with Alumiprep. The biggest problem is getting paint to stick to aluminum. Also if you dont do a good job taping off the spokes at the rim it will look ghetto. You want to use fineline paint tape because it doesnt bleed under the edges.

If you meant getting it done at a shop, then it might be cheaper to buy rims that are already black. A reputable shop likely would charge around $150 a rim and I wouldnt be surprised if some quoted over $200. If you were to do it yourself it might run you about $50 a rim unless you owned a sandblaster.
