Pothole ---> Welt in Tire
I hit a pothole recently and now there is a welt in my front tire. Do i need to replace this thing? Right away? I just bought these freaking tires a month ago!! Great timing...

Ouch.
I had a bubble in a tire on my 01 CL-S. Like you, I had just purchased them. I went to the shop that I bought them from and told them what happened. They sent the tire to France to have it looked at Michelin. Since it was my 3rd set of tires from Michelin, they gave me a tire for free.
Go to your shop and see what they can do for you. It wouldn't hurt

Yep I was without a car for a week. It sucked but I got a tire for free.
When you got the tires from tirerack.com, did you get the protection package?

You won't like hearing this, but that thing needs to get replaced. At least you can do with just 1 new tire instead of 2, since you got it so recently. Last thing you want is for that shit to explode when you're going 75 mph on the freeway with cars all around you.

Replace the tire ASAP, this is now the weak pressure point of the tire. As you drive the tire pressure increases with tire temp. The sidewall is made to flex and pressure will push the sidewall out and equal a blowout. Michelin from tire rack has a 12,000 - 12 month road hazard warranty pro rated via tread depth.

Oh, check your paperwork to see if you're covered by a road-hazard warranty, since you should get a free replacement in that case.
Use the spare in the meantime.

Put your spare on immediately. Impact separations are a pretty serious deal. I had a customer in an Audi roll into our parking lot last week with an impact separation. (It was larger and he'd been driving on it for 2 day already). His tire literally exploded in our parking lot while he was waiting to get new tires installed. Fortunately it happened when nobody was nearby and it didn't explode in one of my tech's faces.
BTW, once again, this is another fantastic reason why not to buy tires online. Had you purchased your tires from a reputable local shop you could just take it there and get a new tire right away. Instead, you're going to have to deal with calls back and forth to TireRack and a bunch of hassle. Chances are that if you didn't purchase their road hazard plan they're going to tell you to go pound sand and you're going to have to buy a new tire.
Also, when it comes to road hazard insurance on tires...as far as I know Costco and Discount Tire are just about the only tire shops out there that include a free pro-rated road hazard warranty on all of their tires, (I'm sure there are others but those are the only 2 in Denver that do). Other dealers give you the option of purchasing that kind of warranty.

I recommend Costco. Free road hazard and good service. Hit pothole and blew tire and bent rim. Costco replaced tire for prorated cost and installed new rim (I bought on ebay) very inexpensively.
