Please rate this wheel / tire choice 1-10 Stern St-2 Nexen N3000
Hi guys,
Could you rate this decision on a scale of 1-10? That'd make it easier for me
I have an 04 Deep Green Pearl Metallic Clearcoat TL 5-AT. We had a bad winter up here and well... I'm in the market for some new wheels.
I came across these guys which I really like, but wanted to get some feedback from the forum.
Style: ST-2
Size: 18x8.5
Bolt Pattern: 5x114.3
Offset: +35mm
Finish: Hyper Black
245/40/18 Nexen N3000
Like those but in hyper black... Do you think they'll look good on the car?

Haha, didn't sound too promising.
Here's the finish I'm interested in. Maybe this will help. (updating the original post too). I hate the chrome, that might be giving the wrong representation of what I want.

I like the look of wheels, i'm assuming that they are cast and not forged. Personally i feel that a forged wheel is worth the money. Also, I think you should source a better tire. If cheap is what you want, Kumho or Sumitomo would be good options.
Overall, I'll give your choice a 5, but wholly from a styling standpoint. I think you could do much better when it comes to functionality, but of corse you have to stay within your budget as well, so I understand.

those wheels actually look surprisingly good on a car... as far as the tires I will agree with tl2498... look into some falken 912 for all season application or falken 452 for summer

Thanks for the feedback. The tires come with the wheels, that's why I ask.
4 new wheels + 4 new tires = $950. Didn't seem half bad.
The wheels are one piece apparently, not sure if this has any effect on the quality. As for forged vs cast? What's the story? Higher durability?
I was also worried that with the offset and how deep the wheels are that they would bend easily. This may be unfounded though.
Thanks again,
Rob

Yeah, the tires are crap...I was trying to be nice and not say that (me of all people ), but others have mentioned it, so there it is. The wheels still look good (can't see your new pics, though).
Forged = more expensive, but stronger and lighter. This process also limits the styles available, to a degree.
Cast = less expensive, but not as strong and light. Depending on the method of casting, the wheels can be almost as strong and light as forged wheels (so much that you'll likely never know the difference). Look for low pressure cast wheels as opposed to gravity cast.

Just curious on the raters.
This wheel is rated an X out of 10 vs y wheel which is rated 10/10.
What do you guys consider to be the perfect design?
Read some reviews on the tires, seems like they're really good on grip but terrible for performance due to the soft sidewalls. Good thing I asked you guys =).
As for my reasoning, I liked the simplicity / classiness of these wheels. Most of the other wheels I've seen are ridiculously over the top or extremely expensive. I like the many spoked (not sure what the style is called) wheels, but haven't seen one at a good price point.

guys are rating the wheels on mere opinion... honestly... if you bent all 4 wheels... and had to purchase 8 wheel total... it would still be cheaper than buying the original version these wheels is emulating

After seeing these new pics, I stand by my assessment that the wheels don't look too bad (you could read that as they look good, I suppose). They look a lot better than a lot of the crap people on here have, and the finish will go with DGP nicely. The tires they're trying to sell you still suck. You can get Toyo Proxes 4 from Edge Racing pretty cheap (great A/S tire) or General Exclaim UHP's (A/S or summer, depending on what site you're looking at) from Tire Rack pretty cheap, as well. Either tire would run you just over $400 for four.

Ok guys, thanks. Turns out I can get just the wheels for $600 shipped.
I learned a lot from this thread, and I appreciate all of your input. I just didn't want some chromed out drug dealer rims, and if I was going to buy rims I didn't want to spend money for the same look I have; but round .
