Please explain how bad a NEGATIVE toe setting can be?
Please explain how bad a NEGATIVE toe setting can be?
I was told that the original rear toe suspension setting on my 04 TL was MINUS 0.25 for the left and MINUS 0.18 for the right rear toe setting. I know that the correct specs call for 0.08 for the rear- and they were realigned to that 0.08 toe spec.
I am not good with the math but can someone tell me how far off the original minus -0.25/-0.18 settings were from 0.08? A non technical explanation would be appreciated. Was this huge, possibly messing up or stressing the other suspension parts? Just need the experts to help here. Thanks in advance.

The worst it would do is give you uneven tire wear,
or at extreme & track speeds say 80 mph to revlimit would give you uneven or squirrely rear end feel especially under thresh-hold braking situations (which is usually right before ABS kicks in, the rear feels like it's slipping to the right or left when you are going in an absolute straight line with no variables). This may have been more noticable when braking under wet conditions regardless of speed.
Other than that, if you got it realigned to within spec you should be fine with no adverse effects.

Thanks for the explanation and reassurance! Since I now have a lifetime alignment policy, I will have the alignment checked in a few months to make sure everything stayed the same. Regards.
