It looks good, but you will have to re-apply it every few weeks or so.

I would think any coating would offset the balance of the rims and it may be a pain in the arse to get wheel weights to stick

If you REALLY want to do something like that I would look at rhino lining or one of the other brands that they use on truck beds I think you can get different colors and smooth finish. It would last a very long time.

Plasti-Dip isn't very heavy stuff. Unless you spray it all in one spot, it doesn't build up. Plus I'm sure he would have just sprayed over the weights

OP congrats on having the wheels redone! I'm in for pics

EH on the blue engine cover. And who ever said you will have to spray them every so often with plastic dip (wheels that is) is wrong.

Did you sand at all or just paint? Clearcoat? Hope it doesn't chip on you! Post pics of it on the car.

if you clear plastidip you wont need to reapply every so often, with 3 coats of clear hell that is more than what you get out the factory... you'd only have to worry when you get new tires

I don't understand how when I tried to my paint my wheels, the color was so dull and ugly. But when I see pictures online they look very nice. You buy diplicolor wheel coating clear right?

Yes Duplicolor, sanded the wheel first with 80grit, 120, than 400grit, primed the wheel, 4 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear coat.. give the coats about 10 minutes , and hit it with another coat, letting the wheel try to much or not enough can make the wheel dull, or rough looking...Hope that helps...

Engine cover seems to have stired up a lot of conversation. I wanted to paint the cover a different color than the rest of the plastic...I had a hard time finding colors to spray the cover with that could take the heat of the engine, so I used engine paint, not a lot of color choices!!!

About 1.75" up front and 1.25-1.5" in the rear. I've never really measured.

I'm not a huge fan of the blue in the centercaps BUT it matches the other accents on your car, so I applaud you for that

Just wanted to give a bump in case anyone is looking into plastidip OEM wheels. I had them gloss white for a while and then switched it up to gloss black. Now im back to no dip - I like it better, Looks more classy

Is the overall consensus that duplicolor is the best brand paint to use on the rims?
