For people who rotate their own tires.

If you use a compressor which torque stick do you use/have. I am getting a compressor this summer and would buy a single torque stick for the TL. And I would also need jack stands.Hmmm

Torq Wrenches are a lot more accurate than the torq sticks.

On sale for $9.95 at Harbor Freight and it works pretty well...certainly well enough to torque wheel lugs.

Best things I've ever bought for my cars were:

- A household air compressor (no more trips and line ups at the station)

-Campbell Hausfeld impact wrench set and quick release kits.

-An Accu-Tire Gauge (CR rated as one of the most accurate)

-Torque Wrench (tirerack special at around $25.00)

-19mm socket from Sears (lifetime warranty)

-2.5 ton jack and stands (saves me trips and $$$ switching to and from winter tires)

Now if only they would come up with a "Household Tire Balancer" that would be another good thing.

Impact wrenches...

They're good for removing stubborn fasteners easily, but I wouldn't trust them for retorquing them.

Better to invest in a good torque wrench which has far many more uses than application specific torque sticks.

I recommend a beam and pointer type torque wrench for long term use. The clicker types can go out of calibration as the springs weaken with age or the ball detent wears. I recommend avoiding Chinese made clicker types due to inferior metallurgy and poor overall quality. I find Craftsman brand tools excellent for home use and they are priced right compared to professional tools such as Snap-On.

Also get a six-point socket not a 12 point.

I just looked at tirerack and what I saw under torque wrench looked pretty close to what I have been refering to as a torque Stick.

What is the difference?

Ohhhhhhhhhh - slow at work so I decided to educmacate miselph. What I use is a torque WRENCH. Those torque sticks I do not use, nor do I understand how they work.

I use 3 ton floor jack, 3 ton jack stands and a torque wrench.
