I can't stand the cold spots in the turanza's. I can not stand any vibration in the strearing wheel! My TL would be much better off with Yokohama's. I have never had cold spots with them!! If I didn't get the RonJon wheels then I would have switched them out asap...........

Most of the Discount Tires in the Chicago suburbs have Hunter Roadforce balancing machines; this is a highly recommended balancing machine for low profile tires like we have.

I had the same experience as described above. Excessive flat spotting. I opted for Michelin Pilot Sports. WOW, car does not shake any more and the handling is superb. I would recommend going this route. Also, had them balanced using Hunter Equipment.

1) Significant flat spotting
2) Not so great traction
3) Hydroplanning
These tires belong on a low end Buick, not an Acura.

Just traded my 2nd gen 42's for Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW3's on the stock rims for winter. So far on dry roads they are very quiet, great ride and handling. We will see and post when winter comes.

FWIW, I really disliked the Turanzas. First, it snowed the day after I got them. They reacted to snow the way I would expect an autocross tire to react to snow -- not the way an all season tire would. Next it rained and the Turanzas were pretty poor in the wet too! Finally, I drove about 5,000 miles on them in the dry and came to the conclusion that they were, at best, an adequate dry tire -- if you don't have any sporting pretensions.
So, I changed to Pirelli P-Zero Neros and couldn't believe the difference. Better in wet, better in dry, quieter and less harsh. It hasn't snowed since I got them, but they were highly rated by Tire Rack users -- even in the snow.
Well, I bought my wife a new Toyota Sienna last week. It came with the EL 42s. (No, don't ask why a tire suitable for a "mini" van is supplied on what purports to be a sports sedan <g>!) I told her that we might want to change tires for the Winter. She came back two days later and told me that we ought to change them for the wet too! (She lost the front in the wet with very little stress put to the tires (and she is a good driver -- took the Bertil Roos racing course, among other things)).
Having said all that, I don't understand why the Turanzas are so inadequate. Frankly, I am a Bridgestone fan -- they used to sponsor me a bit in racing (bikes). Moreover, they make some VERY good tires (for bikes and cars). Unfortunately, the Turanzas are not their best effort!
Best,

JME,
I just put on a set of Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip GW3's on my OEM rims. Traded in the
EL42's second gen. While not cheap $700 on the car, these tires are very smooth, V and
winter rated, and are very quiet on dry roads. I've not driven in hard rain or any snow yet but these tires were very highly rated and so far I love them.
