To paint the stocks or to not paint the stocks.. ? Opinions needed
Alright heres the problem. I'm a low budget guy. My thread is in my signature for more info on my TL. I'm going for a pretty blacked out look, as I've tinted and am ordering gloss black vinyl for the front grill pieces and the back silver piece over the license plate. Once I do the vinyl, the only shiny-ish parts on the car I plan on having are the front and rear Acura logos. My original plan was to paint the rims gloss black. I know this is against many people's opinions as it could potentially look tacky, but my curbrash looks tacky enough. I was going to use metal filler to fix the curb and then sand the rims down, primer, paint, clear. One snag I just hit is that the lugs will still be that chrome silver.. and if you paint them its difficult and it could just get chipped putting the rims back on. So one solution is new lugs. But I can't find cheap ball seat lug nuts in black..
Therefore my question is: With a black theme of a black car, darkish tint, black grill, and red brake calipers... are there any rim colors that would look appropriate with the stock chrome lug nuts?
Heres a picture for reference(tint is 35% ) :
so whats your opinion.. here's my options:

- Leave them stock
- Fix the curb, paint them a stock looking color
- Fix the curb, paint them a different color that would look good with the stock lugs

i may be in the minority, but i say go with gloss black. i painted my stocks gloss black and left the lugs silver and loved how they look. gun metal is too grey imho. that being said, painting your wheels is kind of a PITA. very cheap, but very time consuming. idk if i would do it again. but if you do it, GLOSS BLACK!!!

That looks so good
Do you have any pics?? And by the way since you said it's a pain to do (which judging by tutorials I'm not looking forward to all the work) would you keep them stock w/curbrash ?
Thanks I'll look at their paint!
Just wondering why. Do you think it's overwhelming for everything to black or just flat out don't think it looks good
That picture above is really nice I'm leaning towards it now

Let me know when you're gonna do yours, Ill meet you somewhere and do mine on the same day. Split the cost of paint, which I get discounted anyway thru my job. After seeing that pic, I have to do it until I can afford the wheels I want.

polish them!! anything but black on black its so over played and just dosnt really work with the tls that much, if you want a dark color deffently do the gun metal, or go with white always looks good on a full black car, but your car you choice man

I did my stock Aspecs in duplicolor gunmetal wheel paint because they were all curbed to hell. Theres pics on this site somewhere... I also painted the lug nuts and "A" on the center cap black with black epoxy paint, I love how it came out. I wrote up a DIY thread, try to search for it if you want

go gunmetal! black on black everyone does that. Black on black with a bold color accent looks good.

don't do black because then everything will blend in together and it'll look like you're riding on donuts.
car needs some contrast to look good IMO.

^agree
I see way too many black cars with all black wheels, but my favorite ones are the black cars, black wheels, blackout headlights and tail lights. The sad part of it.............it was a 3G TL one my way to work today.

I did mine in the duplicolor graphite on NBP like yours. It looks really good. Just be sure to paint the center caps and detail the logos with a contrasting color of paint like above, or my car. It really makes the look.

If you want to do it black, do it black. My wheels, center caps and lugs are all black. My car is white so it pops more than it would on a black car. Plastidip them black first, you can always peel it off. or paint over the dip and peel off the paint you choose if you don't like it.
