NJ/NY TL Drivers

Looking for some new tires that can hold up to these roads here in NJ/NY. Who’s running what, and which would you guys recommend on 19’s?

I guess it depends upon where you live and/or do a lot of driving. If you put 19s on your car and drive down the main drag in Hoboken, you'll probably have bent rims when you get to the other end unless you drive at like 5 mph. Personally 18s are over my self imposed minimums of sidewall height (4") for NYC metro driving in that they sport a sidewall height of 3.66"; upping your wheel size to 19" would drop the sidewall height a further half inch to 3.16".

I don’t drive a whole lot....about 7-8000k miles a years with a mix of highway and street. Yes, Hoboken and that whole neighboring area is rough on tires. I do drive slow over there, as I’m over there a lot. No bent rim though. Yea, I’ve only had 19’s with a 235/35 Nexen tire which I loved. It’s now discontinued, that particular tire, so looking what others living in this area run and like for these streets???

First of all, this car isn't designed to accommodate 19" wheels. Almost everyone I know with this size (or larger) here in the NYC/NJ area complains about all sorts of underneath damage due to the rough roads, especially those who've lowered their cars. The roads here in the NYC/NJ area are fur shit and 19" wheels and/or lowering the car doesn't cut it. Our cars are designed for wheels that are 17" or 18". Don't mean to be a party pooper here, but facts are facts.

This past Winter, I went through 4 tires damaged because of pot holes. Thank God I had road hazard warranty on all of them. Get a nice set of 18" wheels and call it a day. Then go out and get yourself a set of General GMax AS-05's as they're the best bang for the buck.

You’re not a party pooper, you’re just not following directions. I didn’t ask for your opinion on if I should have 19’s or not on my ride while living in NJ/NY. What you think is good for your ride is how you feel...I’ve had 19’s on my car for almost 5 years, and never have had any damage from a pot hole. I drive careful, and it’s worked out thus far. I’m looking to see what tires guys are using they like in this area, since my Nexen model I liked so much are discontinued. So, if you can’t help me there, then no need for your opinion of what I should put on MY car. Not trying to be a dick...

Not certain as to how much the car is lowered, but in the 19" size, 245/35-19 would be my choice.
If you like Nexen-N5000Plus.
If you want inexpensive tires, look at tires-easy.com

It’s lowered where my front tire is almost tucked. Maybe 1.8-1.9...A couple weeks back I tried 245/40. Too wide. Would have to do too much fender rolling and whatnot. Ok, N5000Plus. I have the N7000 now, and it’s discontined, which is why I went with the Nexen N7000Plus. However, they don’t have them in 235/35, which is why I went 245/40, but it wouldn’t fit. So thanks, I’ll look at N5000Plus.

Nexen????? And 19's???
i'm going to guess your age: <24

to answer your question: Michelin, Continental or Bridgestone touring tires. I'm running 245/45R17 for some extra rubber real estate.

Please enlighten me to your correlation with a person’s age and Nexen tires with 19’s? Good for you...that doesn’t fit my car. 235/35R19 only.
