New wheels plus spacers = VSA and CEL

Hi all,

Had a shop put custom wheels on my 04 TL. Driving home, felt like I hit a patch of black ice in the right front, and VSA + CE lights came on. Pulled over, checked tightness as best possible, turned engine off and lights reset.

About 30 miles later-- same thing happened.

The shop added 120MM spacers to gain enough brake clearance. Since this has never happened before, I'm figuring the spacers mess with the sensors somehow and trip the VSA and CE lights while feeling like the right front wheel "locked" for a split second.

Anyone have any questions I should be asking the mechanic??

thanks in advance,
John

well, you have the best clue of all!
a check engine light!
please have it read and record the codes and report back!

the spacers are attached to the wheel hub, which means the spacers dont have jack squat to do with sensors.

What kind of tires do you have? you could be losing traction momentarily.

actually, what is your wheel and tire specs?

This sums it up. In addition to above, check clearance between caliper and wheel?

120MM? Are you sure? That's almost 4.75". Like justn asked above, what are your wheel and tires specs?
