new TL member with stupid questions....
hey everyone! i'm a new TL owner, and I'm absolutely in LOVE with this car. coming fro a jeep wrangler, and a chevy blazer, this thing rides, handles, and accelerates like a DREAM!!!!
i;ve searched the threads, and I have a question, I apologizes if this has been covered before, (which I'm sure it has...) but if you would be able to help an axious owner out it would be greatly appreciated...
I know the staggered option for wheels on a TL is not the norm or suggested, because it is a FWD, but i like the way it looks from behind with a wide tire.
question 1: I want to place 19X9 in the front and 19x10. will this work? and being that it is staggared, will it effect performance or "hurt" the car in any way? i don't mind putting 19x9 or even 19x9 or 8.5 all around.
question 2: if it is possible, what offset would i need?
question 3: i want to put coilovers on the car to drop the car about an inch to an inch and a half. what system would you suggest? i'm not in it for super-extrordinary handling... ride quality is more important to me, the closer to stock or better is what i'm looking for. I just want to complement the way the car looks.
question 4: i like the way the a-spec wheels look, but the don't come in the dimentions that i'm looking for... any suggestions?
you guys rule. I seriously read this site at least twice an hour... this place is amazing. sorry for all the noob questions, and thanks ahead for any help and suggestions you might be able to offer... i'm looking forward to your input.

Best advice on wheels right now...
Everyone wh ois going with 19's is going 19x8.5 it is the best fix.. .if you want staggered order a good set of wheels, with staggered offsets, so that the lips look better.
+35 is the offset to get if you want BBK on the front or rear.
The only coilovers that are going to do that is the tein basic, or tein Super street, dont get a-spec it will only lower you have a inch. I would suggest the tein s-tech springs, which cost $110 and will lower you 1.5 inches
If you like the A-Spec wheels, they are made by enkei try to look for them that way
Good luck

19x 8.5 is the biggest you can go if you want to drop the car. As far as suspension goes I agree with Lokius either go with Teins coilover or if they make JIC's for the TL. If you decide to get 20s like me then you cannot lower it. Good luck =)

I have to kinda disagree with some people here. I have fitted 19x9 Yokohama AVS Model7 with 45 offset and the wheels fit front and rear just fine, with room to spare. The tires are 245/35 R19 Yokohama AVS Sport. There's absolutely no rubbing and my car is lowered about 1.5-1.75" with Tein Basic.
But, 19x10 (45 offset) is very tight for the rear. Even though they didn't rub when I tested them, they might if the car is loaded or if the suspension is fully compressed.
BTW, the wheels were staggered, 19x9 and 19x10, 45 offset. The tires were 245/35 R19 (F) and 275/30 R19 (R). They for sure look b*tchin', though.
If you go with 19x9, 42-45 offset will work fine, front and rear. 19x8.5, you need 35-38 offset. If you have 6MT, measure the caliper clearance first. But most Japanese wheels with high pad disc will clear the calipers.
I have Tein Basic coilover and it transforms the car. The ride can be harsh at times, but the car attacks turns and corners in totally different manner. The car feels a bit lighter and more eager to turn. The Tein also eliminate the bobbing effect of the stock suspension.
Tein SS adds damping adjustability if you feel you'll need it.

you can go with 19x8.5 up front, and 19x9 in the back... I was going to go with the staggered wheels too, but i figure what's the diffrence between .5"? So I decided to go with 19x8.5 all around. As far as dropping the car goes, the Tein Basic coilovers setup can be a lil stiff at times. But with the Tein SS you can adjust the dampining on it.
