New struts?

New struts?
Last week I went to tires plus to have my tires balanced and rotated. While they had my car in, they said I need all new struts because my tires are cupped (I never rotate my tires like I should). And they quoted me $1,300 for all new struts. My car is an 07 with 93,000 miles. I find it very hard to believe my struts are bad already. The car doesn't bounce over bumps or ride bad in any way. I think they are just trying to make money off me. How long do the struts in the TL's usually last?

$1,300 is way too much. I just bought new Koni Yellow shocks with H&R springs today for a little more than $700. You could go that route or you could get some decent coilovers for $870 (Tein SA) to $1000 for BC.
I wouldn't be surprised if your shocks need to be replaced. I'm at 128k and am replacing the original shocks as soon as my setup arrives.

I recently installed Tein Basis coilovers. After I removed my stock struts, I noticed they weren't blown at 140k miles, but they were definitely worn - I could compress them by hand and a little force. Even with the coilovers and the car being lowered, it rides and handles better than it did on worn struts. Also, when going over speed bumps and rough roads, my car would make a thumping noise - now it's damn near silent.

Would it be accurate to say that the Tein Basis coilovers made your ride stiffer but more comfortable so that there'd be no reason to go with stock shocks even for comfort?
I have over 125k miles on my stocks, and my tires wear perfectly (but I do rotate them every 5k miles). Have you had your alignment checked recently?
