New Lugs

Hey guys,

I recently purchased some lug nuts for my 2006 TL, and since it's going to be nice outside (60 degrees), in Chicago, in the winter, I would like to take advantage of the nice weather over the weekend, and retouch the plastidip thats on my rims and get the new lugs on. That being said, I don't have any jack stands with me since I'm at school. Would it be okay for me to use the jack stand that came with the car to do each wheel and use that exclusively to hold it up or would you recommend waiting and getting an actual jack and stands to do this? I'll probably spend a considerable amount of time on one of the rims since it was messed up when I had my tires aligned. Thanks!

This is one big heavy-ass car IMO, I'd get some Big Red's before I left it up in the air for any length of time at all.

Yeah that was kind of my concern as well. I know the scissor jack they gave is really just for emergency use, but since it came with the car, I was hoping it would be okay to use.

i wouldn't trust scissor jacks unless it was for an emergency.
i've had one bend (but not fall) while it was up way back 10 years ago. Use a jack stand + jack even for stuff like wheels. It's also good to have both sides of the car up at once to avoid body torsion. Not worth it for $30 jacks and $30 stands.

I'm certain the stock jack is over-engineered to hold the car without a jack stand, hence no jack stand provided in the car. However, I would not trust it unless you're in dire need.
