I just had my 2005TL SSM 6M blow out the front left tire. I only had a little over 20,000 miles? ?? Seems strange? And I ruined my oem 17 stock rim.

Here are my questions:
1. What type of ASPEC rims would you pick for SSM.
2. Are the chrome and Silver sparkle are the only 2 from acura?
3. Why is Chrome more?
4. Can someone please recommend a good tire. I do not drive in snow and leave in the sacramento CA area.

you should go with the sparkle silver aspec rims. They will match your ssm perfectly. I think chrome looks more luxury rather than sporty, and thats why they cost more. as for the tires, you should go with the standard ones that acura recommends which is the yokohama es100 size 235/40/18. You could always buy a single 17" OEM rim off eBay for $125 and then take your time getting new rims and then be able to sell a full set of the OEN 17's at a later date.

Did you get the insurance wheel/tire package when you got the car? It buys you a new tire and wheel fyi.

Sparkle silver would look great. For tires, I suggest the Pirelli PZero Rosso 235/40R18 95Y (get the Volvo OE spec tire; Tire Rack will know which one it is) which is perfect for the TL. Pricey, but perfect.

Chrome costs more because of the process and the actual nickel used. It's a hazardous material in liquid form. Much more than other coating methods.
