Need tires advice for 20" wheels.

What's up everyone. I have an 04TL 6spd with navi, stock suspension. I'm curious about some tire sizes for the 20's I'm about to order. Tomorrow I'll be ordering some 20"x7.5" msr 087 wheels (will powder coat white and chrome next month). Now I live in Paterson nj where the road are definately crappy. I want to keep my stock suspension and go with either a 235/35/20 or a 225/35/20 tires. The seller of the rims said neither size will fit on my TL without rubbing and that I need to go with a 30 profile tire. I'd much rather have a little bit more meat on my tires for added protection. Will I be able to use either one of those tires with a 35 profile on my TL? Would rolling the fenders prevent rubbing. I definately want to go with a 20" rim instead of a 19. What do you guys suggest? Thanks for the help.

Wrong place to post this question. It should be in Tires, wheels & suspension.

I used to have 20x7.5 rims on my 05 accord with 225/30 tires and they were way too thin. So I got some 225/35 and it was a lot better ride. I had no issues with rubbing at all and I am lowered 2 inches in the front. Just go with 225/35 and you should be fine.

I was running 245/35/20 for a while. As long as you don't lower your car, you won't rub.

Even though the 35 series sidewall will give you more protection and/or improve ride comfort, it throws off your speedo by a few MPH.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I'll go with the 235/35/20's. I'll probably end up rolling the fenders to be safe since I always have people in my car. Thanks again.
