Need opinion to ease my mind
I recently had a minor accident and car was in shop for a month. Details can be found here https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/i-feel-sick-my-stomach-772891/ along with pics from before and after. Of course being as anal as I am... in the days to follow (I just got the car back friday afternoon) I am finding minor things that need to be adjusted or fixed. I have to go back for a part anyway so not concerned about time frame. My concern now (which I am having a problem determining if it is an actual problem or in my head) is the rims. More specifically the finish. I have the original Type-S rims with the gunmetal/alloy finish (the driver front rim was either replaced or repaired because of the accident but I need to find out what was done exactly). The rims look to me to be very shiny almost chrome like and I can't tell if it's because they are just really clean or if somehow when they fixed the car and detailed it they removed the original finish. So I guess my question is is it possible to remove that carbon/gun metal darker type finish and make it appear more like chrome and shiny. I am including pics below of how the car looked before both clean and dirty as well as how it looks now.

after the accident and rim is dirty
car repaired and freshly detailed

It's hard to tell in the pictures, and from what you typed, what exactly happened.
So let me get this right:
-before car accident, all wheels matched
-car accident happened -> car in shop
-car is returned to you and one wheel is darker than the rest
Am I understanding your situation correctly?

Sorry for the bad pics but those are all I have of the before rims. As for the situation you are right except the issue isn't 1 wheel being off color wise but all of them being just very shiny..more so than I recall before the accident. I meant i'm no expert detailer but i think I did a pretty decent job of cleaning them and they never shined like they do now (sort of like chrome). Could be just paranoia but I will find out when I bring it back to the body shop.

looks the same to me. it's just the lighting. My AM looks blueish at different types of the day, then light grey in the brightness, then really dark dark aggressive grey at night. so, since the type-s rims closely resemble the AM color, I'd say it's just lighting.

A search will show that there have been a few that purchased a replacement TL-S wheel only to find it a different shade than the OE color. Not much can be done as Acura doesn't sell the wheels by color or shade, only what is in stock. Only suggestion I've given in the past was to purcase another wheel and then you'll have 2 the same shade on each side.
