Need help raising my car (H&R coilovers)

I need to raise my car for shipping. I have H&R coilovers. Anybody have any sort of tips on how to make it easier to raise? the lowest part of the car has to be 6" and I have a couple more inches to go. But as I get higher and there's more tension on the springs and it gets harder and harder to turn the rings, particularly the fronts. Any tips I don't know about? Or I just have to man up and use more muscle lol.

Are you sure you're not just tightening the springs instead of raising the ride height? It shouldn't be getting any hard while it's going up.

Edit - nevermind, they are like the Tein basics where the only way to control ride height is with the springs so I guess you just need to keep wrenching.

No its coilovers so I can adjust the ride height. And I'm turning the adjustable spring to raise it and its getting harder. The thing is, the springs direction swirls in a clock wise direction and the very bottom of the spring is basically digging into to adjustable ring as I turn clock wise. There originally was a plastic ring between the ring and spring but that was easily distroyed when I was raising it. Pretty insane that the spring sits directly on the on the ring. Unless I installed it wrong....but I got it brandnew and had no left over pieces.....

Not sure exactly what you need to accomplish compared to how this is measured, but even stock the TL doesn't have 6" ground clearance.

....
Minimum Ground Clearance
5.8 in (148.0 mm) Non-Load 4.4 in (111 mm) Full-Load

Haha are you serious? I told Matson that my car is lowered and they told me to have 6" ground clearance.

I had the same issue w/ my H&R's.

I added a metal wave washer on the 2 front coilovers. H&R should have used metal washers and rounded the spring end.

That's why I said, "compared to how this is measured." I'm not sure, but Acura may count the front underspoiler/air dam thing, which is 2 or 2 1/2 inches.

If you need 6" clearance at the bumper, that might be different.

thats y measuring from center of center cap of wheel to the fender is more accurate

The lowest part of the car whether it be the side skirts or the frame the j pipe. Which ever is the lowest has to have 6" clearance...

Powerflow, you know exactly what I'm talkig about....the spring digs into the ring, and the more tension put in the springs make it dig more. I actually thought of a temp thing like shoving a knive or somthing inbetween just for when I'm raising it...I would add a metal ring later when I have more time...

Now that is a tip......thanks!

If the front under-spoiler/air dam is the lowest part of the car, it is fairly easy to remove and replace; you'll gain a bit if you need it. Same for side skirts. Some after-market J-Pipes hang slightly below the frame; OE does not.

You're missing the point. OP needs his car at a minimum Ground Clearance of 6" and his coil-over adjustment to raise the car is being a bitch. (BTW, I didn't say anything was "difficult" to measure.)

^makes sense. just curious, why do you need it 6"?

but yes, best bet would be shoving a screwdriver in between temporarily to prevent spring from digging while adjusting height. (I have a feeling once u extract the screwdriver, it'll just continue to dig)

You should order that hardened metal wave washer in powerflow's thread..looks like a design flaw from H&R

Have a picture of how it sits now?

did the knife/screwdriver method work or did you just man it out?

are you upgrading that metal washer?

Knife worked fine. Kinda like a temp washer right.... Anyway. I'll install the washers one day. I'm pretty busy with the biggest move of my life thus far. From Hawaii to las Vegas.
