since you have the type-s, it comes with a pretty thick sway bar upfront.
I would upgrade the rear to a thicker bar, first to see how you like it.

Also, do you know the benefits of having a well matched front and rear sway bar?

^the progress RSB is 24mm as opposed to the H&R's 22mm.

I have the progress RSB on the Stiff setting, and I'm very happy.
the progress rsb also cost WAY less than that H&R bar.

the one advantage you have over me, is the front sway bar. the type-s FSB is thicker than the 6MT base FSB.

I'm pretty sure the 6MT and the type-s front bars are the same size. It's just the type-s is a solid bar as opposed to the hollow 6MT bar.

I think IHC said something like 30-40% stiffer. Don't quote me on that.

Most of our customers opt for the Progress 24mm adjustable rear sway bar:

http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-225595.aspx

The front sway bar will definitely help keep the suspension balanced and improve handling but it takes a few hours to install. Here's a link to the TL-S FSB from H&R:

Get the Progress RSB. If you still think you need handling improvements, look at shock/springs next. After that if you STILL think you need handling improvements, look at the H&R Front bar.

As far as your brakes, what do you mean by "changed my brakes at the dealer new calipers and new rotors."?

Do you mean new PADS and new rotors?

Getting another set of new rotors to fix your "boom boom" noise is probably wasting money. If the dealer changed your pads and rotors and now you have this "boom boom" noise, take it back and make them fix it.

I think something like this noise has come up before, but I don't remember what the problem was.

I would go with the H&R kit. I'm running the Progress 24mm rsb and H&R 28mm front. The H&R bars are firmer than their diameter would indicate. The 28mm front bar is very stiff, quite a bit stiffer than the 27mm Type S front bar. What I'm getting at is the H&R 22mm rsb *might* be as stiff as the 24mm Progress bar. This is just a guess though. The other option is the Progress bar in the rear and H&R up front.

The larger fsb helps high speed stability and turn-in sharpness but it must only be done with a larger rsb also.

Think I'm finally going to get around to installing my Progress rear this weekend. You guys think I should do the firm setting or not? I'm on H&R Sports and Konis, a half turn from full soft.

I also have a Type-S but didn't notice much difference at all, just slightly better cornering at high speeds but not effect on steering or body roll as I was hoping.

How do I change the setting, my cousin said he put it on the "stiff" position but I want to switch it to see if I can feel the difference.

Installed on the stiff setting and have to say.....

This thing is awesome! I'm pretty pissed it's taken me this long to do this mod. Definitely the best all around mod I've done as far as bang for the buck (although the Moddiction shift knob and GM Syncromesh both rate pretty high too), as well as a painless install. No more plowing and I'm still somewhat handicapped by 45 series Potenza RE960 A/S on the back and Nitto Drags up front. Can't wait till spring to get new wheels and some 35 series summer tires; then I'll fine tune the damping on the Konis!

What means are you using to test it? There is a HUGE difference when cornering at the limit. It's not going to make a large difference in day to day cornering obviously. It's going to make the handling balance more neutral instead of underteering which you will only notice when you really press the limits.

Two holes at each end of the bar.

The two farthest holes make the bar longer and therefore softer.

The two inner holes make the bar shorter and therefore firmer.

I've read (but have not tried) that you can put one side on "firm" (inner hole) and the other on "soft" (outer hole) and will have in effect "medium".

What I'm not sure about is whether having the bar slightly "off center" or "cocked" could possibly create any issue - additional twisting, for example.

^Thanks, Bearcat!

If I may ask, what exactly would you say was an improvement after installing the swaybar? I just want to compare and see if something may be wrong with mine.

Corner stability. It seems to me the back follows the front better (if that makes sense). It also seems to turn in better and not lean/sway as much mid-corner.

I did mine at the same time I did springs, so I can't say the RSB did this or that all on it's own. I know that body roll and nose dive are reduced mostly from springs.

But better corner stability and reduced body lean/sway, I think is the result of the RSB working with the springs.

There's nothing wrong with yours. It's just a piece of metal that twists. How are you quantifying a handling improvement? You have to push the car to the limits to see what changes it makes.

I've always really liked my TL, but after another day driving with the RSB, I'm one step closer to loving it. If I didn't know any better I'd swear it wasn't an ass dragger. The plowing is nearly gone, and with summer tires it's going to be even better. Also not sure if it's in my head, but it also seems to feel more planted at highway speeds. Can a stiffer bar do this?

This mod should be mandatory before anyone's allowed to join AZ. Everyone will say thanks later!

I guess I was expecting a night/day change with normal driving but I guess that's not the case with the RSB.

I did have to use an emergency move (cone in the middle of the lane) and was pretty impressed with the quick response and very little body roll, however I didn't try this before the RSB so can't really compare it to anything.
